Social Media From My Daughter’s Perspective (UBC Day 16)

social mediaI am currently on vacation in beautiful Leavenworth, Washington, and we will be seeing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tonight at a lovely outdoor theater.  This is why I am behind again, but not by much.  Anyway, I thought I would share something my daughter said last night as I was going through my social media tasks, and her comment was, “You’re following everyone!”  And I responded, “Yes.”  She asked me why I was doing that, and I said that I needed to since the person was following me.  It is the right thing to do.  And then I told her how I was going to have to and unfollow those who had unfollowed me.  I actually don’t like doing that.  I get tired of people who just follow you so you will follow them!  And when a fellow blogger unfollows me, I really get a little miffed.  I will gladly unfollow a company so that I can follow a blogger.  I know how important reciprocal following is in the blogging world!  I’m sure I have accidentally unfollowed people in the past (and if I do that, and you don’t like it, please let me know!).  Sometimes I have to unfollow someone because they are no longer active.  You know how facebook and twitter are–you only have so many follows to give out.  But think before you unfollow someone!  And if someone does follow you, be kind and follow them back!  People wonder why I have so many people following me on social media.  I have even had companies ask me.  I honestly think reciprocation is the answer!  Oh, and it’s okay to not follow spammers and people who send inappropriate stuff.  Look at their profile–you’ll probably know right away.

I totally agree! It’s the Golden Rule kind of social media philosophy.

Hi! Stopping by from the UBC and Facebook!

I also agree with your perspective. The number of visits and comments are WAY more than the number of people who follow my blog.

As long as you read and/or comment on a blog, and have no major disagreement or ethical issues with what a blogger says – why not be considerate and follow the blog? 🙂

It’s funny, I just noticed your “Subscribe to Devotional Thoughts” and that’s something I have thought about doing on one of my blogs. How is that going for you?
