Blogging Challenge January 5: An Energizing Snack

Snacks used to be one of my favorite things, but I have considerably reduced the number of snacks I consume. I fast for at least twelve hours in the evening and onto the morning (broken by sixteen ounces of celery juice). But I still do have my go-to snacks.

I love fruit. Grapes, oranges, and apples. All of these delicious fruits. Pears, berries, pineapple…I’ll even take canned fruit. Fruit always gives me a boost of energy.

Once in a while, I’ll have a cheese stick. I adore string cheese, and sometimes I just need that boost of protein.

Possibly my favorite energizing snack is peanut butter pretzels. For me, they are just about the perfect snack. I love peanut butter anyway.

If I ever need a quick pick-me-up, I’ll have a few pistachio nuts.

I like smoothies – plain yogurt, coconut water, fruit – I like to use frozen fruit [any of the berries, mangoes, pineapple. If I have ripe bananas I will freeze them individually and use them in the smoothie too. I’ve tried adding kale – but I really don’t like kale. I’ve cooked it different ways but just don’t like the texture or taste.
I like other green leafy vegetables but not kale. You can also add chia seeds, maca powder, wheat germ. Also, you can make a batch of this in your blender and keep it in your frig. Sometimes it thickens and you just thin it out with a little more coconut water and blend it again. Enjoy!
