Unfortunately, even though we are in an unprecedented time in global history, it doesn’t mean that some can put their medical necessities on hold. If you happen to need rehab for injuries or recovery from surgery, putting your treatment on hold may not be an option. Thanks to telehealth, we have other options that exist, but not all are viable for every single patient.
Even with such disruption, there are options for those patients that might be suffering from injuries and surgery recovery at home. Checking out places like Accident Rehab Center North Miami Beach might work for some patients in that area, and possibly there are other facilities near where you live (or where your loved ones who need medical attention live).
When researching rehab centers and assistance during this time, there are some factors to consider. It is worth your while to investigate all your options and find health leaders who can hopefully direct you to the best rehab options for you at this time.
As with any injury, if it is a serious injury, I would suggest going to the emergency room. Life-threatening conditions and illnesses are still being treated in these establishments, and while it might look a little different during this time and possibly wait times might be increased, get yourself checked out if your condition is serious.
As mentioned earlier, telehealth has become a viable option during this current health crisis. If your injury is minor, your primary care physician should be able to set up an appointment via video technology. While physical therapy or some form of rehab may be required for a sprained ankle, torn ligament, or the like, many of the particulars can be handled via internet conferencing. More than likely, even once this pandemic crisis is passed, this will still be something that is regularly used in the medical field. It would appear that this technology is here to stay.
Once a determination is made that in-person physical therapy is necessary, ensure that you are aware of safety protocols before showing up for that appointment. While most medical offices will tell you upfront whether you need to bring a mask, stay in your car, answer questions, and have your temperature taken, it is still wise to ask so that you are adequately prepared.
Finally, if you are given at-home exercises, realize that they do work! They might be painful at first, but that is part of the process of healing and rehabilitation. Being diligent about this is only going to make your healing process quicker. It will also mean less time in the medical clinic and lower medical costs.
Also, don’t forget about potential legal costs. If you were hurt at the fault of someone else, be sure that you follow up with receiving compensation. During this time of COVID-19, some things fall through the cracks. Don’t let it be your health nor your compensation. Be sure to follow up or hire someone to do it for you.
