Over the past five seasons of the highly-rated Hallmark original show Good Witch, Rhys Matthew Bond has portrayed the angsty, but lovable Nick Radford, son of Dr. Sam Radford, Cassie Nightingale’s love interest. Over the course of these five seasons, fans have enjoyed watching Rhys create a character who has struggled to find himself, has dabbled in love and romance, and has ultimately begun to discover his true passions in life. All of this has been guided by the other principal characters in the show who have contributed much to the molding of this young man as he prepares to enter the real world beyond Middleton. Grace (as played by Bailee Madison) has been both a sparring partner and a confidante, and as we look towards the second half of season five and onto next season, I am thrilled to share my most recent interview with this skilled young man.

RH: First of all, without giving away anything, what can viewers expect from Nick in this fifth season of Good Witch?

RMB: The viewers will be able to watch Nick’s excitement grow as he enters his adulthood.

How are you like your character, Nick, and how are you different from him?

I’m like him because I enjoy video games, and I’m different from him because I actually enjoy reading books.

It was just announced that Bailee Madison is leaving Good Witch after this season, but the series is renewed for season six. How do you believe this may impact Nick’s character?

I have no idea what will happen.

What are your hopes and dreams for Nick in the area of romance?

I think Nick is more focused on beginning his life in University. However, he’d certainly never pass up the opportunity.

Who is one character with whom you wish Nick would get to spend some more on-screen time?

I’d say Sam as played by James Denton. I always love working with him.

Any chance your character might return to Heartland?

Not that I know of.

Do you have any other upcoming roles you can mention?

We’ll have to wait and see.

We have yet to see you in any kind of Christmas movie. If you could cast your perfect Christmas movie, who would be a part of it?

I’d be happy to work with anyone.

What is the best part about being a young person in the entertainment industry today? What is the most challenging part?

The best part is being given the time to experience life as an actor. The most challenging part is making sure it doesn’t go to your head.

Do you have any special summer plans?

Spending time with my family.

Even though Rhys is consistently a man of few words when it comes to interviews, there is no doubt that he is embedded within the fabric of the Hallmark Channel network and its fans. I cannot tell you how excited we are to continue to see the unfolding saga of Nick’s story on Good Witch, and of course, we look forward to more from Rhys in his professional life as well. While we have no idea what the future trajectory of Rhys’ career may be, he has learned the lessons already in his twenty-some years on this planet that some people don’t even learn within a lifetime career of entertainment. He recognizes the fact that he is blessed to work in an industry that fuels his passions and utilizes his talents, and he never takes any role or experience for granted. Even though Good Witch is on temporary hiatus until after Christmas In July has completed its run for this year, I hope that everyone will make plans to come back to the Hallmark Channel and watch the next episode, which will air on Sunday, July 28th and continue throughout the remaining episodes of season five with more to come in season six next year. Additionally, I invite you to check out Rhys’ links below and consider following him where applicable. I genuinely hope that one day soon we see Rhys in a Hallmark Christmas movie (or any season for that matter) because I believe that he is a fully capable actor who can accomplish abundantly more beyond his role of Nick on Good Witch. Regardless, I know that the Hallmark fans and I will continue to support his career no matter where it may take him throughout 2019 and beyond!
