Without a doubt, one of the perennial beloved Hallmark actresses has to be the vivacious, gifted, and vibrant Rachel Boston. Her Hallmark career has included an extensive variety of fan favorites, and the powerful way in which she chooses to live her life and conduct herself appears to be in keeping with the network’s values and perspectives. Her positivity and brilliance shine through every role, and her leadership on and off the screen practically guarantees a beautiful and elegant movie with a story that will resonate with the viewers on multiple levels. In anticipation of her upcoming Hallmark Channel premiere this weekend (The Last Bridesmaid, premiering on June 22nd), I had the honor of interviewing her recently, and it is my delight to share that conversation with my readers today.

RH: Since our last interview, we have seen you in a variety of capacities. One of the most interesting ones was Love At First Dance where you were the executive producer. Could you tell us about your involvement with this production and what it was like being the executive producer and not acting in it? How was it different for you, and what are your thoughts about doing more of that in the future?

Rachel and Nina

RB: A few years ago I started producing. I absolutely love developing new stories and taking real-life experiences and turning them into something uplifting and inspiring. I’m very thankful to be working with such a great team. Nina Weinman wrote the script and is so incredibly talented. We met on the set of Stop The Wedding, and I love her. She’s so wise and wonderful. And funny. She’s really funny. I met producers Joel Rice and Scott Clayton on A Rose for Christmas, and they are an incredible team to work with. I’m beyond grateful to them for bringing this film to life. Hallmark gives so many opportunities to women both in front of the camera and behind the camera. Michelle Vicary, Hallmark’s Executive Vice President of Programming,  is an amazing example. Maria Fischer, our wonderful publicist at the network.  Elizabeth Yost and Ayse Francis, our incredible development executives. Even our dolly grip, Grace Leoppky, on The Last Bridesmaid, was a woman! It’s an extraordinary time for women in film, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

I cannot tell you how THRILLED I was to see you in The Good Doctor in such a meaty role! What was special about being on that show?

The Good Doctor

That was such a special experience. By far one of the most vulnerable roles I’ve played, and I was so thankful to be working with such an amazing and supportive cast and crew. The storyline was really heavy, but there was such a positive energy on set. David Renaud wrote the episode and is such an inspiring person. He was a doctor for years before he became a writer, and I’m excited to read what he does next. David Shore is so talented and built an amazing world for this show.

While I have not seen this movie yet, I remember hearing you speak about the movie I Hate Kids on Home & Family earlier this year. Could you tell us a little about your role in this movie and why you had such a blast being a part of it? Why do you believe fans will enjoy this movie if they haven’t seen it yet?

That was such a fun shoot! Titus Burgess is hilarious and Tom Everett Scott is a dream. Rhea Seehorn is so smart and crazy talented, and it reunited me with director John Asher who I worked with years ago. It’s wacky and funny, and a fun summer comedy.

This weekend, Hallmark fans will see you in The Last Bridesmaid. Please tell us a little about your character and how she fits into the overall storyline.

Becca is always the bridesmaid and embraces it! The idea started at my brother’s wedding. Everyone was asking when I was getting married. I thought, “this is so relatable and straight out of a romantic comedy!” Nina Weinman and I had worked together before and sat down and brainstormed on a bunch of ideas and fell in love with this one. So she celebrates being single, but as she spends more time with Kyle, the videographer at the wedding, something shifts. He encourages her to pursue her dreams and she sees her world open up. It’s a very classic romantic comedy, and it was so much fun to make.

What was it really like working with Paul Campbell, Jeremy Guilbaut, and the rest of the cast and crew on that film? Any special behind-the-scenes stories?

It was a blast! Paul Campbell and I started a cover band cover band. We cover cover bands and made a few fake music videos.  It was one of the best sets I’ve worked on. The whole team was extraordinary. Jeremy is fantastic in the film and making that choice between these two wonderful men… well, that was just really fun.

Any other upcoming works you can mention?

I’m developing a few projects now that I’m really excited about and looking forward to working on a series again soon. Creatively, it’s really fun to evolve and grow with a character over time, so I’m looking forward to that.

You remain consistently positive and interactive with your fans. What is your “secret” to being a light of joy and hope in a world that is often inundated with negativity and darkness?

I pray a lot. I’ve also been through a lot. When you’re in the middle of it, it can be hard to see, but I do believe our most challenging times make us stronger. More compassionate. More connected to the people around us. You never know what someone is going through, and I want to be part of the light. There’s always hope. I don’t think we can ever have enough of that.

As far as I’m concerned, Rachel is the epitome of what is good and right in this world, and I find her messages, her gifts, and her attitudes all radiate far beyond herself to inspire hope and joy in a world that is far too negative, dark, and cynical. In my humble opinion, Rachel Boston is Hallmark’s lighthouse of exultation, and every time I see her face on my screen or read one of her uplifting messages, I am filled with an ebullience that not every actress in the entertainment universe can awaken. I am convinced that Rachel could portray any character she wishes, and while I know that her artistic range encompasses a broad assortment of characters and personas, nothing she does on screen can ever extinguish the triumphant manifestation of light and love that radiate from her innermost being. Even when playing a more complex, conflicted role, there is something enigmatic that connects with the viewers’ souls on a profound level, and all I can say is: “Bless the Hallmark Channel for bringing Rachel Boston to its network and highlighting her so regularly!”

I entreat all of my readers who are in the U.S. to tune to the Hallmark Channel tomorrow night (June 22nd) for the most anticipated Hallmark June wedding movie to date (The Last Bridesmaid). I sincerely hope that one of the Canadian networks will pick this movie up soon so that our neighbors up north can experience this phenomenal film as well. Additionally, I recommend that you drop whatever you are doing right now and visit all of Rachel’s links below and promptly follow her on all her social media networks. If there is one Hallmark network actress that will continuously provide you with motivational messages, serene and picturesque landscapes, with a bit of whimsy on the side, it’s Rachel! I will never tire of seeing this woman on and off my screen, and I can hardly wait to see what the future holds for this extraordinary woman who is the absolute personification of all that is grand and glorious in this world of ours!
