Well, it happens to be that time of year again when high school seniors are getting their applications in for their preferred college or university. At the same time, adults are making the decision if they want to or need to go back for further education. No matter what, all of us know that continuing education costs money, and the vast majority of us cannot do it without some kind of financial help. While government grants, secured and unsecured loans, and even personal savings can be options to consider, there is a wealth of scholarships out there for anyone who is searching for the additional help that might be required to continue his/her education.

For those with an exemplary working knowledge of economics, the Robert Tweed scholarship may be the exact program for you. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant would need to be a high school or undergraduate student who is enrolled in and excelling in finance-related courses. Rusty Tweed, owner of Tweed Financial Services, is the one who founded this particular scholarship, and one candidate will receive a $1,000 scholarship by answering an essay question about economics as stated on their homepage. It is important to visit the website for more information concerning the specific requirements, deadlines, and eligibility requirements.

For those who are current high school students, the Minc Law Scholarship may be a scholarship that is worthy of consideration. This scholarship actually has two methods of submission: a written essay or a video response. In both cases, the question is listed on the scholarship website, and all requirements are presented in an easily comprehensible fashion. It is important to note that this is not only open to students who wish to pursue a career in law. It is open to any high school student, but the question to which applicants are responding is one centered on legal issues. If selected for this scholarship, $1,500 will be applied to the winner’s college tuition bill. It is vital that candidates for this scholarship visit the website and review all requirements, including the submission deadline.

If you are a person who has a heart for charity, you might consider applying for the Jonah Engler Scholarship.  This is open to high school seniors or college students who have not reached their senior year, and one applicant will be awarded $1,000 to be applied to a future tuition bill. There is an essay involved with the application process, and the question does revolve around charities with heart. It is imperative that anyone who is interested visits the website and reviews all information, including application submission deadlines.

Women who are aged sixteen and older may be eligible to apply for TOPTAL Scholarship. This one is an international scholarship program with detailed eligibility and application requirements as listed on their website. This one involves composing a blog post about a specific topic, and the process has a variety of rounds for consideration. There can be up to five winners, so while this involves a rather large cross-section of people, it is well worth investigating the possibility. Please note that recipients will be awarded $10,000 plus one year of one-on-one mentorship from a TOPTAL leader

The Adrian Rubin Trust Scholarship is another scholarship to investigate if you are a high school senior or a college student who has not reached his/her senior year. Again, there is an essay question, and if your entry is chosen, you will be awarded $1,200 in scholarship funds applied directly to your tuition bill. The essay question for this year appears to be rather open-ended, and while there is no way of verifying that the question will be the same from year-to-year, it is certainly another avenue to pursue for those who fit the eligibility requirements as listed on their website.

Current college or high school students may wish to consider the Opp Loans Scholarship. This program requires an essay response to a question prompt and is awarded four times a year. Each winner of the scholarship will receive $2,500 to be applied directly to future or current tuition costs. In addition to the essay requirement, applicants must also maintain a 3.0-4.0 grade point average.

Finally, to round out the list of scholarships for consideration, current college or graduate students may apply for the Verma Farms Scholarship. Again, topics are provided for an essay response, and students are encouraged to apply regardless of their major. While the prompts do involve organic produce and/or health, anyone with a working knowledge of these vital topics is encouraged to apply. One applicant will be awarded $1,000 in scholarship funds. It is imperative that potential candidates visit the website for more information, including submission deadlines.

These are just a few of the scholarship opportunities that are available today, and I would encourage anyone who is considering pursuing a degree and/or continuing their education to invest some time in researching various scholarship opportunities. I have detailed seven of them here, and I hope that everyone visits the links and applies to the ones for which they are eligible.
