Do You Need To Visit the Dentist Even If You’re Not Having Trouble With Your Teeth?

You’ve probably thought about it before. Your teeth feel fine and time is at a premium; do you really need to visit the dentist?

The answer is a resounding yes! Neglecting the health of your teeth and mouth should not be an option.

Of course, you’re not alone; current research suggests that an increasing number of Australians are skipping the dentist.

If you choose a good dentist, such as Dent8, then you’ll appreciate that a dentist does so much more than just look at your teeth.

Early Detection

The main purpose of a dentist is to check that you don’t have any cavities or other work that needs to be done. But, by having a regular check-up, your dentist will be able to identify the start of any issues and deal with them before they become a bigger problem for you.

This is also a great way to keep the cost of the dentist as low as possible.

Overall Health

Did you know that the nerves in your teeth are directly linked with the rest of your body? An infection in your teeth can actually spread to the rest of your body surprisingly quickly; giving you some serious health problems along the way. The best way to prevent these from occurring is to visit your dentist and have your teeth checked.

Gum Disease

This is one of the biggest causes of tooth loss as it affects the gums, bone, and tissue. As well as causing tooth loss gum disease has been linked with illnesses throughout your body. Often the first sign is bleeding gums when you brush.

If you visit the dentist regularly they can help you to deal with the issue and even reverse the disease. That makes it worth visiting the dentist!

In addition gum disease is now being linked with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke and even pancreatic cancer.

Oral Health

It is estimated that 30,000 people suffer from oral cancer every year. A regular dental visit will help this to be picked up early enough to resolve the issue. If it’s left alone, it is much harder to treat.

Cleaning

You may brush your teeth twice a day, floss at least once and use a mouthwash. But, unfortunately, this doesn’t mean your mouth is completely free from bacteria, plaque, and other issues. Your dentist can give your teeth and extra clean to ensure they are all performing well and staying healthy.

They can, if necessary, offer tips and advice to help you maintain that cleanliness between visits.
The cost of the dentist may seem prohibitive when your funds are already stretched to their limit but it can be considerably less over the long-term than having to deal with an expensive root canal treatment or worse.

If you haven’t visited your dentist recently it’s time to book a visit.
