There are many young people in this world who are not sure what to choose for a career. Likewise, many adults are unhappy in the current job and looking to start a new career. It is not always easy to decide on a job if there are not many things in life you are passionate about. If you have always liked reading, you might want to try becoming a writer. If you can’t see yourself slaving away over a novel like George R.R. Martin or Daniel Handler, do not worry. There are many types of writers in this world. You just need to find the style of writing that is best for you. You can become a newspaper columnist, write feature stories for magazines or start a website where you post your own blogs. Here are some of the best reasons to become a writer.

1. You will get recognized for your achievements

This is one of the biggest problems people have with their jobs. They work hard on a project or report, only to see someone else take all of the credit and impress the boss. However, if you become a writer, your name will be at the beginning of whatever article or story you decide to write. There will be no question that you are the person responsible for writing it. Nobody will swoop in at the last minute and steal the credit from you.

2. You set your own schedule

Are you tired of the nine to five rat race? Writers never have to be a part of it because they do their writing from home. You can basically write whenever you want. If you are writing for a newspaper, magazine or other publication, you will have deadlines to meet in terms of when your writing needs to be finished. However, when you choose to do your writing is completely up to you. You will never need to hear an alarm clock again.

3. Admiration

The longer you are a writer, the more of a fan base you will develop. People will begin to look forward to your writing and praise your work on social media. It is much easier to expose your writing to the public now than it has ever been before. This is because of the many platforms that writers have with which to release their content. Authors like Handler communicate with their loyal fans through Facebook, Twitter or their own personal websites.

I’ve always wanted to write, but can never motivate myself to complete a book. I finish a few chapters and then I get bored. Setting my own schedule would be nice and being recognized for my achievements.
