Air Conditioners and Indoor Air Quality

It may seem difficult to conceive of this fact, but before long, summer will be here.  When in the throes of winter, it is the ideal time to service your air conditioner.  You don’t want to wait until it is ninety degrees and humid to discover that there is something wrong with this necessary home appliance.

One thing that people don’t often think about is that worn out air conditioners can lead to poor indoor air quality.  My family and I know from experience that spring and summer allergies can be some of the worst that we experience.  We often attribute allergens to pollen, grass, and other outdoor agents.  It behooves everyone who dwells where there is an air conditioner to consider the overall health of that machine.  If your home has been built in the last forty years, it is a prime target for high levels of indoor air pollutants.  In fact, indoor air is considered to be one hundred times more polluted than outdoor air.  Energy efficient homes are perfect for saving money, but they trap contaminated air and keep outside air out of our homes.  This greatly reduces our indoor air quality.

One thing to consider is the age and condition of your air conditioner, and it would be best to check that out now.  You need an air conditioner that purify your indoor air and get rid of the allergens.  If you use an air conditioner that is old and worn out, you will not be able to adequately filter the air in your house.  As a result, you and your family will be breathing sub par air that will potentially make you and your family ill and cause possible allergic reactions.  So have your air conditioner checked today by professionals, and be open to replacing that worn-out air conditioner in your home.  Click here to read more.
