Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to interview an enterprising industry professional whom I referred to as driven, and although I was convinced that I would be seeing more from her in the future, I was actually wonderstruck by how much she has appeared on my screen in the past few months. From Lifetime to UP to Hallmark, viewers are becoming increasingly well-acquainted with the fabulous Lucie Guest, and it looks like her career is continuing to accelerate with no signs of stopping or slowing down. However, she recently took some time from her busy schedule to answer a few questions about her more recent and upcoming works.
RH: Since we last chatted, viewers have gotten to see you in a wide variety of things. We got to see you in Infidelity in Suburbia, which starred a favorite Hallmark hunk, Marcus Rosner. What did you enjoy about that particular shoot?
LG: Besides working with the babely Marcus Rosner and his abs? (which were not painted on…you could grate cheese on them … it’s almost too much, to be honest.) I would say something that stood out on this shoot, in particular, was the incredible location. We filmed our boat scenes in a beautiful marina in the middle of mountains near Squamish; it was stunning.
Hallmark viewers had their first look at you in Murder, She Baked: Just Desserts. What was it like working with that cast and crew?
It was a very sweet scene. I was happy to be a part of the Murder, She Baked series. It was an emotional scene for Cameron Mathison’s character and it was nice to work with him especially in that scene. He’s a sweetheart on camera and off.
You were also featured on iZombie in a recurring part. Any chance your character may come back next season?
I would love it if my character randomly came back and had a secret story line that reveals itself in season four! But nothing that I know of yet.

We got to see you in one memorable episode on Date My Dad. What did you appreciate most about being a part of that show and creating your fun role?
It was a fun episode. I had originally read for a different character and I found out later they offered me a different part to play–a baseball-stalker-fan. So maybe I just give off those vibes. A big part of that character was all her baseball memorabilia and so many selfies with baseball players, and you can never have too many foam fingers or autographs.

You were also featured in Sleepwalking in Suburbia in a rather pivotal role. This film starred plenty of Hallmark favorites (including the first lead role for Giles Panton). What are your memories of that shoot?
It was an intense role and it takes a lot out of me to stay in that dark space and an emotional state for days of shooting. Luckily, I was working with Emilie Ullerup and she is heaven to work with. She’s a very talented actress and always bought coffees after lunch. Also, Alex Wright, the director, gets into the scenes as one does when directing, but he likes to call out exciting things from the monitor which is always entertaining. Alex and I are working together again on a Hallmark Christmas movie with Hallmark favorite, Alicia Witt. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Chesapeake Shores
Chesapeake Shores viewers got to see you in an episode this season. How did you get involved with this show?
I auditioned for the show. I was very excited when I found out my scenes were with Emilie and Kyle Cassie, who are actually husband and wife in real life. In the scene we did together, my character almost kisses Kyle’s character, but is interrupted by Emilie’s character clapping her hands! Every time we did another take of the scene, I was hoping Emilie would come in with her clap in time just before our lips touch… it would have been awkward to accidentally kiss her husband. We came close a couple times, but she nailed it! You can see a clip of that scene here:

Suddenly, Hallmark viewers are going to see you in a wide variety of things, including Gourmet Detective 4 and Eat, Play, Love (which premiered August 19th). What can you tell us about your roles in these projects? What do you like about working with Hallmark?
What I love about Hallmark is the heart and family behind every story. Feel-good movies that I can watch with my family. I was excited for the premiere of Eat, Play, Love and I’m glad it will air again this Saturday! I think the adoption of dogs is such a good cause there are so many good dogs out there that need homes. I’m happy Hallmark made a movie about it. If you love dogs, you’ll love this one. Also, it stars Lindsay Wagner and Lee Majors who reunite on camera after so many years.

Eat, Play, Love
It was also directed by Christie Will who I worked with on A Christmas Solo. Christie called me before we started filming to say that she, Jen {Lilley} and I would have a great best friend chemistry and she was right – we were all instant bffs. Not to mention Jason {Cermak} and I had a great sibling connection. It’s fun to play the meddler match-maker. I’m going to brag, but I have been known to be quite the match-maker in real life.
What can you tell us about the short film Never Better: A Closure Comedy in which you are listed as director and writer?
I went through a break-up so I thought I would write a movie about it through a comedic, self-deprecating lens. I wanted to write a strong female comedic character – someone who doesn’t have it figured out, makes bad decisions, and has to find strength in it. I love lovable losers who are not winning at life…yet. It’s sad, but there’s humor in the journey to closure.
What is your favorite season of the year and why?
Fall. Fall fashion with scarves and the colors of the leaves and lattes and pumpkins… I could go on.
As Lucie has now become not only a fan-favorite but evidently a Hallmark favorite as well, I do believe we will be seeing her in amazing projects over the next few months and even years. It is as though Lucie is finally coming into her own, and ultimately, she is reaping the rewards of determination and hard work with larger roles and roles that give her the opportunity to demonstrate her phenomenal versatility. At the heart of everything, Lucie has remained grounded, humble, and benevolent. Furthermore, the fact that she is quick to recognize so many of her compatriots who have labored alongside her to create these incredible projects is a testament to the fact that Lucie is exactly as she appears to be–a kind, gentle soul who is always thinking of others before herself. I believe that is the key to her current and continuing success. No matter the role she plays–crazy wife/girlfriend with murderous tendencies or sweet best friend to the leading lady–she always gives of herself fully to the role at hand and has the ability to cause the audience to believe she genuinely is that character when on-screen. My sincere hope is that the powers that be will recognize her extraordinary giftedness and honor her with the leading lady role sometime in the not-to-distant future.
