My thoughts: I will never forget watching this movie in the theaters. I was an adult, but it was the first time I ever went to an R-rated film. I had very high standards when it came to what I permitted myself to watch. My mom, my dad, and I went to the theater, and I was deeply moved. I cried so many times. I wept over the crucifixion. In fact, I still remember I had to go to the bathroom, and I raced there and back during this scene, and my tears picked up right where they left off.

This is a movie that all families should approach with caution. It is very realistic, and it is also told in another language with subtitles. But I promise you that you will never think of the story of Easter the same way again. You will remember the pain that Christ endured for you.

There is much lore surrounding this film. People complain about a wide variety of things, and they also say that this film has brought miracles and supernatural things into their lives. People claim that this was the film where they gave their lives to the Lord. Some question the ending because it would appear that this film focuses on the Crucifixion and we don’t see the Resurrection. Watch the end…and then decide for yourself if the Resurrection is addressed and/or depicted.

My all-time favorite scene in the film is the opening scene. The struggle between the Serpent (Satan) and Christ is so well-done, and it will demonstrate how the battle was won long before Christ went to the Cross.

If this movie is not quite your speed, you are bound to find something among the offerings on Pure Flix that will provide quality entertainment and Biblical teaching about this special time of the year.
