Indeed, 2022 has been a year of new ventures for me, and one of those is my new podcast, Media From the Heart. The idea was birthed during the month of November when my employer, Paul Greene, did a version of his podcast that included virtual audience members from his Patreon group. When I saw how this format worked, a seed was planted in my mind, and it began to germinate over the Christmas holidays.
This was that special podcast of his.
Now, here’s what I am not. I am not a celebrity. I am not an actor. I do not have thousands of YouTube subscribers. I honestly did not ever see myself as a podcast host. I had tried a few YouTube video interviews, but there were so much work, and I never felt that I was able to do them as well as I would like.
But at some point in December, I made the decision that this was worth a try. As much as I loved writing all those interviews from years past, people just don’t tend to read written content like that anymore. I used to spend hours and hours working very hard to write the transcript, edit, and organize the interview so that I could show off my interviewee in the best light. But I did not have the time to devote to that anymore, and frankly, people just weren’t reading them like they used to.
So I took a risk. I had watched a movie on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel, and a young actress/singer captured my attention–Jasmine Forsberg. Watching it now, I’m thinking, “Wow! I’ve come a long way!” I got with Jasmine before this recording and asked her if she was okay with trying out this format. And she was. On January 1st, this interview hit my YouTube Channel:
I only planned on a YouTube occasional podcast. I had a virtual audience, and this was just so lovely! Since this podcast, Jasmine, has made the announcement about going on the road with the show SIX!
From there, I went back and released two all-audio episodes (one with Tyler Hynes and one with Jacks) that were the precursors to this podcast.
Note the date on this. It was before I really decided to go this route.
It was clear I was thinking about doing this…
Then, I decided it wasn’t good enough to have just a YouTube video podcast. I needed to delve into the world of podcasting and get on Apple Podcasts. I did my research, and I finally chose Spreaker as my podcast host, and the rest is history.
All of these can be found on my YouTube channel as well if you are looking for the video version. Check out my YouTube here.
I would love to know which one of these is your favorite so far.
I’d love to know who you hope I interview next.
And, of course, I have a Facebook Group where you can always find the most up-to-date information about who I am interviewing and how you can join as a virtual audience member.

I do admire you, Ruth. Your willingness to adapt to the changes in communication channels and stamina to multi-task when seeking out interviewees and promoting the finished article are truly inspiring.
It’s certainly encouraged me to pursue different paths for my writing, so rather than just wish I could master a new format, I’ve actually gone down that pathway, connected with some writers of thrillers and rom-coms for TV, and am taking up knowledge from them like sponge!
I wish you every success with your fledgling venture. I am sure that both you and it will go from strength to strength
