Disclosure: I was sent this season in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are 100 percent mine, and I was not financially compensated.
Pure Flix is excited to announce the exclusive premiere of “Vindication” Season 2, set to debut on September 1, 2021, with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays.
The Pure Flix Original Series has grown a devoted fan base for its ability to inspire faith with compelling crime narratives and issues of the day.
In Season 2, Detective Gary Travis will encounter real-world obstacles in his professional and personal life that will challenge his character and stretch his faith.
This faith-based police drama was the vision of Jarod O’Flaherty who was inspired to turn police dramas on their head after watching a series with his wife. O’Flaherty never intended to make a television series, but set out to produce a short film for his church, Retta Baptist Church, in Burleson, Texas.
A 26-minute film of the same name received awards and accolades from film festivals and the Christian entertainment world. And it sparked the demand for a full season, comprising 10-episodes and following the faith and work of Detective Travis.
“Vindication” stars Todd Terry as Gary Travis; Venus Monique as Detective Kris Tanner; Peggy Schott as Becky Travis. Season 2 will debut T.C. Stallings as Detective Trae Millwood.
MY THOUGHTS:
I had the opportunity to review season one (and I’m already anticipating season two) on Pure Flix, and I have to admit, it superseded my expectations in the best way. I am a fan of crime shows, dramas, thrillers, and cop shows. Therefore, having a “family-friendly” version that still deals with real issues is intriguing. And I must say that as I watch the initial season, I don’t find myself thinking, “This is a subpar Christian offering.” This is a fantastic reminder of just how far Christian programming has come.
It used to be that Christian programming was “in-your-face” gospel preaching, disjointed stories, and second-rate (or third-rate) acting and storytelling. But Vindication cannot be accused of any of those. Instead, real issues are dealt with–infidelity, disability, drug abuse and more–apart from gratuitous violence, sex scenes, and profanity. This means that the entire family can sit and watch it together. Moreover, the acting and storytelling are incredibly well-done.
I can hardly wait to share these episodes with my mom. We finally have an alternative to all the network shows that sometimes make us blush with the way they cover the issues. I know it will be safe for her to watch, and it will be safe for all families to watch together. In fact, real issues come to light that may spark a dialogue in the family that can be discussed from a Christian worldview.
