Anne Spencer is a small town elementary school teacher. Romance isn’t on the radar. When she discovers the school she dearly loves is being shut down, Anne and the town must come together to save it. To complicate things, Anne is wooed by a handsome local politician who is running for mayor. Anne looks to her best friend Roman and their neighbors for support. Anne is faced with the distraction of new romance, but must ultimately figure out what she really wants. Will love solve all her problems, or must she choose?

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

First of all, this is essentially a clean romance novel. There are a few light profanities, but most would not even offend the typical reader. There are no bedroom scenes, and so I would say this is appropriate for almost every reader. In addition to this, this book is also a fairly quick, light read.

For me, while this book was fun and light, in some cases, I felt that the story and characterizations were a bit too lean. It is fully evident that the author has a story to tell. The setting and main characters were solid. However, I wish so much that the story had developed a bit more than it had. Notwithstanding, if the reader merely wants a book to pass a cold, winter’s evening where everyone lives happily ever after, this is definitely it. My rating of a 3.5 means that it is about average for this genre, and it will definitely keep the reader entertained for an evening. In fact, a network like Hallmark could easily take this book and turn it into a typical movie for the network.
