With 2020 quickly approaching, there are a lot of things that are going to change. A new decade means that it is time to adopt some new procedures in the world of health and safety in the workplace. One of the things that can assist with these changes is health and safety software. But, how can software radically change the health and safety culture of an organization? Here are three health and safety trends for 2020 that can be addressed with the help of software.

Online Learning Modules

2020 will bring a variety of changes, one of which will be a move towards online targeted learning. Not all employees need to know the same safety measures and features within an organization. Factory workers need to be aware of changing rules and regulations, along with specific measures designed to keep them safe. Human resource workers at the same location need to be aware of the stresses that can affect them within an office setting. Since both sectors within the same organization have vastly different safety protocols that they need to follow, they need to have access to different types of information. That is where the online modules come in. Health and safety software can easily create pathways for these employees to follow, so that they stay abreast of any changes, and have access to modules which directly target the key areas they should be learning about.

A Focus On Overall Health

Typically, a health and safety program within the workplace will put a focus on strictly health and safety at work. There has slowly been a move towards total health, which means that the focus is on employees maintaining their health within the workplace, and outside of it. This move towards total health means that health and safety software must now incorporate programs and learning measures that focus on overall health, and not just specific workplace sectors. This can be incorporated into the workplace by looking at physical, emotional, and financial well-being as the three aspects that contribute to overall health. It is a much more comprehensive look at health than most organizations have focused on in the past, and as we move into a new decade this will be the way of the future in terms of maintaining organizational health at every employee level.

Evolving Workplace Environments

Many work environments are no longer static, and instead have become rather dynamic. Millennials now make up a large part of the workforce, and some organizations see a lot of transient employees. This means that short-term and long-term employees need to be trained in different ways, and their health and safety training within the workplace will be different. Health and safety software can be used to design programs specifically for interim workers that cover what is strictly necessary for them to know, while long term employees can have access to comprehensive training on an ongoing basis, rather than as an as-needed one like short term employees.

Overall, 2020 will see how safety and health is viewed within the workplace as something that is evolving. Health and safety software will aid in this change, and comprehensive systems will be employed to help train employees at all levels, while also helping to achieve total health.
