Summary: Jack’s life is changed forever when he discovers he is the only person on earth who remembers the music of The Beatles and must decide if he truly wants the spotlight, or if all he needs is love, after all. Filled with heart and humor from beginning to end, Yesterday on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital comes packed with exciting bonus features including deleted and extended scenes, live performances at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, an alternate opening and ending and several featurettes with the filmmakers and cast that take fans further into the charming story. Hailed as “Funny, original, and touching” (Patrick Stoner, “Flicks” WHYY-TV (PBS)), Yesterday is a rock-n-roll comedy about music, dreams, friendship, and the long and winding road that leads to the love of your life. Stay in, “re-experience the Beatles’ songs as if they’re brand-new” (Mara Reinstein, Billboard) and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ Abbey Road this year with the perfect at-home movie night when you own Yesterday on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital.
Jack Malik was just another struggling songwriter…but that was yesterday. After a mysterious blackout, Jack (Himesh Patel; BBC’s “EastEnders”) discovers he is the only person on earth who remembers The Beatles! As he rockets to fame by passing off the Fab Four’s songs as his own, Jack risks losing Ellie (Lily James; Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Cinderella) – the one person who has loved him and believed in him from the start. Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran also star in this romantic rock ‘n’ roll comedy from Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually).
The soundtrack to YESTERDAY is available on digital/streaming services as well as CD from Capitol Records/Polydor Records. The album will be available on vinyl this Friday, August 16.

Being perfectly honest, when I saw this movie advertised the first time, my initial thought was, “This looks really stupid.” I’m not joking! My daughter thought it might have promise (she’s sixteen), but I wasn’t convinced. I mean, a world that has never heard of the Beatles?? Isn’t that rather blasphemous??
Well, when I was given the opportunity to review it, I thought, “Okay, let’s go in with an open mind.” And that is exactly what I did. I am here to report that the movie is NOT “stupid.” In fact, it is charming, heart-warming, funny, and cute. It reminds you to go for your dreams, but do it the right way. Do your own thing, and don’t copy what worked for someone else. Even if you are the only one who knows it, doing the right thing will always give you a peace of mind you couldn’t know otherwise.
The acting was fun. The music was phenomenal. Ed Sheeran was fantabulous! (Watch out for his wife as the flight attendant in the scene where they’re in his private jet!) I will never forget the first time I saw Ed Sheeran. I have Taylor Swift to thank. He toured with her in the U.S., and I remember being impressed with this guy’s talent. Even my mom was impressed. And from then on, Ed Sheeran rose to be such a massive star. I find him refreshing and fun. And in this movie, he shines. I mean, he is playing himself, but he does it so doggone well!!
The “sci-fi” element in this movie (we must escape reality and realize we are in an alternate reality) is not overpowering. They handle it with humor and charm. You never know what might be the next pop culture reference that is obliterated from the human consciousness.
Now, there is some profanity throughout. Some of it was difficult to distinguish because the English accents often obscure some of those phrases. There are no bedroom scenes, but you might find yourself saying, “Did they say–?” Yeah, they probably did, but it didn’t really bother me that much. It wasn’t “swearing just for the sake of swearing.”
I have great news for you! If you live in the U.S. and would like to win your very own copy of this DVD for yourself, please enter the simple giveaway form below by October 7th at 9 P.M. Pacific time!
