Does your dog ever push its food or water bowl around, causing it to spill? British dog owners have been preventing spills and messes with a uniquely designed pet bowl called the PetWeighter, and now it’s launching here in the United States!
Engineered by a resourceful dog owner for his Schnauzer, Charlie, who was diagnosed with diabetes, this clever product was originally created to stop him knocking over the bowl and therefore provide his canine pal with access to plenty of water throughout the day.
Strong and sturdy, the two-part PetWeighter comprises a removable bowl on top of a base that can be filled with sand, water or a combination of the two. This means that the high-strength, food-grade plastic bowl will not move when a dog nudges it – and stops the container and contents from traveling across the kitchen or yard. It will also stay put if a clumsy human kicks it by accident or a mischievous child knocks into it while playing on the floor.
Simply unscrew the cap, fill and then secure again, replacing the bowl on the top, for a robust receptacle that will always ‘sit’ and ‘stay’! When completely full, the PetWeighter can tip the scales at a mighty 28 pounds (13kg) – enough to prevent food and water spills by even the biggest hungry hounds.
The PetWeighter bowl is detachable for washing or filling with food and can be placed on a dishwasher top rack for a thorough, hygienic clean. The top is then easily aligned to the base and locked straight back into place with a simple click.
The rounded corners of the PetWeighter make it conveniently chew-resistant, while the bowl itself has no dirt-attracting cracks or crevices. As well as providing ongoing access to water, the PetWeighter is great news for arthritic dogs** at meal times as its elevated height (8¼ inches / 21cm) removes the need to stoop down, which can put stress on joints, necks and shoulders, particularly in older animals.
A full supply of water is essential for almost every canine bodily function, aiding a dog’s digestion, maintaining its body temperature at a normal level and preventing damage to organs. While awareness of pet hydration during the summer is high, it is equally important to ensure dogs drink the required level of fluids during the winter, as rigorous exercise and home heating systems can accelerate the dehydration process. Depending on its size, a dog requires around 0.5 oz to 1 oz (15 to 30 ml) of water per pound of body fat, each day. Water spillage can be a major cause of insufficient hydration, as our four-legged friends often push and tip their bowl, losing vital drinking supplies as they do.
With no more growls caused by the frustration of a shifting dish, PetWeighter comes with a dark gray base and a choice of Red, Turquoise Blue, Pale Pink or Hot Pink top bowl.
Rob Peacock, owner of Peak Pet Products Ltd, said, “PetWeighter is a bowl that really sits and stays! Creating an immovable pet feeding and watering zone, it simply cannot be budged, no matter how hard a dog tries. We designed it to make water and dinner spills a thing of the past, so it’s a treat for the pet owner, too – saving wastage, mess and cleaning up time. What’s more, our faithful friends no longer have to chase their bowl to enjoy their food or drink.”
Designed by award-winning British small business, Peak Pet Products Ltd, PetWeighter has a suggested retail price of $29.99 and is available on Amazon.com.
My Thoughts:
We have a fairly good-sized dog in Piper, a rescue dog we got several years ago. We’re not even sure what kind of dog she is, but she is big enough to send her water dish going all over the place. Therefore, her dog dish is kept outside. This is also to keep it away from the cats (we have five indoor cats). But our regular doggie water dish moved all over our porch.
We were quite happy to have the opportunity to try out the PetWeighter. Immediately upon arrival, I filled it with water (super easy to do), and my dad who suffers from the early stages of dementia had no problem understanding how to fill the dish up and connect it to the base.
Right away, our dog, Piper, LOVED the dish! There was no hesitation. It’s so much easier to clean than the old metal ones, and it doesn’t move in spite of the force she puts into drinking her water! My dad and I love this dish, and we couldn’t think of any way to improve it. The fact that it is dishwasher safe makes my mom and me very happy as well!
So here’s the best news of all! I have been authorized to giveaway a bowl in the color of the winner’s choice, a value of $29.99! All you need to do is fill out the giveaway form below by Sunday, April 7th at 9 P.M. Pacific time. This giveaway is only open to the U.S. Remember, you cannot win if you don’t enter! Best of wishes to all!

I like how this bowl stays in place. This would make it easier for me and Sheba.

I like that it is heavy so my dog won’t push around the bowl and spill the water.

I would love to win this for my new puppy. She likes dumping out her bowls and she rolls the bowls across the floor like they are toys. We are working with her on this, but this would be super helpful!

My dog needs a new bowl! He is larger and I would like to get him one that is at a more appropriate height. I also like this one because it aids digestion and slows down the eating instead of inhaling the dog food. lol

I have three rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds, and if you know about Coonhounds, you know they have really long legs. I can see my dogs sometimes straining to drink from a regular bowl and would love to try this one for them.

My Boxweiler is horrible with her bowls she carries them around all over the house so this would be fantastic to help cut down on her messy eating and drinking habits!

My dog not only pushes her bowl around the room she tips it over. Have a blessed day.

What I like best is that its is heavy and my dogs won’t be able to move it. I have 3 black labs that move there dish around a lot now.

My dogs are very messy drinkers but seems like someone is always kicking their water bowl too. I’m always the one stepping in it too lol. These bowls look awesome, I just love the design and colors.

I’d love to win this dog bowl because my big lovable lug of a dog is always pushing his dish around, slopping water everywhere and this would help keep the mess to a minimum.
