MY REVIEW:
First of all, this was my first genuine foray into the “Avengers” Universe. I did see Spider-Man: Homecoming. I was grateful I had seen that one. But as far as the other characters, my daughter was my translator. Sure, I had heard everything about the fans uproar concerning the ending of this film, so I was prepared for multiple deaths. I knew I should have caught up before watching this film since I was a newbie, but my daughter watched it with me and pointed out things that I needed to know, including various characters and other happenings.
When I began watching the movie, I didn’t expect to like anything about it. My expectations were low. For me, this was a movie that had so much hype, and I was not going to be the easiest consumer to please. However, within about thirty minutes, I was hooked! I loved the acting, the character, the special effects, and the overall themes of good always triumphing over evil. Or at least, that was how the universe had been until this one.
As far offensive content, the violence was not bloody or gory, and the language was relatively mild (I heard a few brief words of profanity here and there, but nothing more than is typical for a PG-13 film). There are no sex scenes, and all of the humor was pretty smart and not off-color. The ending was tragic, but I understand there will be a sequel to this one, and since I’m hooked, I’ll be watching.
Interestingly enough, the day after I saw this movie, my daughter and her friends took me to the theater to see Ant-Man and the Wasp. I am so glad I had seen Infinity War because had I not, the ending would have been a true conundrum to me! And since that time, I have also seen Dr. Strange. I can easily cite this film as my introduction and immersion into the “Avengers” Universe, and I couldn’t be happier that I saw it!
