In PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST , Luke risks his life to visit Paul, who is held captive in a Roman prison under Nero’s rule. Together, they struggle against a determined emperor and the frailties of the human spirit in order to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spread their message to the world.

Paul’s letters and writings were vital to the spreading of Christianity, and became a large part of the New Testament. Our story focuses on how, despite persecution and peril, they shared Jesus’ message of love, redemption and forgiveness with a small community of believers who in turn, took it to the whole world.

Great pains were taken to maintain biblical accuracy. Using scripture as the only reference, director Andrew Hyatt recreated the story of Paul on film, including the close relationship with Luke, whom at the end of Paul’s life, at his own peril, traveled in and out of the prison carrying Paul’s writings to the community of believers

The MPAA has rated the film PG-13 for some violent content and disturbing images
Running time is 1:47 min

In Theaters Nationwide Week Before Easter Friday, March 23, 2018.

My thoughts:  All too often, we Christians make time to go to films and watch shows that are not faith-friendly. I don’t say that as a criticism because everyone (myself included) has a wide variety of reasons why he/she chooses to support a work of art, and that is something between that person and the Lord.

What I can say is the following. This world is becoming increasingly darker by the moment, and Hollywood is following suit by releasing more and more dark and anti-Christian films and shows. As we all know, money is often the deciding factor when it comes to a film being released or not. Faith-based films are becoming a lucrative business, at least, in one sense, and that is why they continue to be produced. Hollywood is tapping into a viable market composed of those who are making their voices known concerning Christian content.

The wonderful thing is that Christian films being produced in today’s world have stepped it up to a degree in terms of acting, writing, cinematography and more. This means that more money is being invested to ensure historically-accurate, visually-pleasing, and artistic prowess. So it’s almost “trendy” to support these films because they are often independent as well.

But as Christians, we should support these films so that our voices are not silenced. There will come the day when no one will listen to us any more and we may face torture and death for Christ as the Apostle Paul himself did. But till then, I plan to support the Christian film industry as much as I possibly can. I have every intention of seeing Paul, Apostle of Christ in theaters, and I hope you do too!

The hard part is finding a theater nearby showing the movie when it’s a Christian-based film.

I struggle with that too. We live in the country, and it is an issue. I often have to wait till it’s available via dvd
