I am eternally grateful to the Hallmark fans for more reasons that I can state here. Shorting after the recent premiere of the Hallmark Channel movie, Bottled With Love, one of the fans asked me if I knew the name of the actor who was playing Mr. Wilmore (Thank you, Susan!). Well, I didn’t, but when I looked him up and noticed it was a newcomer to Hallmark named Everick Golding, immediately I reached out for an interview. To which he quickly agreed, I might add. It is my honor to present this man whose story is refreshingly unique in so many ways.

RH: Please tell us a little about your background and how you became an actor.

with Patsy Rodenburg

EG: My background of getting into acting is not the traditional path as I started this path later in life. I had quite a few friends that took drama in school, and they pointed me in the right direction when I started this journey. The best advice I received was to read Dee Cannon’s book, In-Depth Acting (Dee is the main senior acting teacher at RADA and has coached actors at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal National Theatre) and Patsy Rodenburg’s book, Second Circle (Patsy is head of Voice at the Guildhall School of Drama and is world-renowned. She has worked with theatre’s most powerful actor like Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen).

with RADA acting teacher Dee Cannon

Dee Cannon’s book informed me that I should make the same investment as a serious young drama student. So with that information, I tracked down Dee Cannon and Patsy Rodenburg and had classes with them personally, and that made all the difference in the world. These two individuals are without a doubt the tops in their field. As the forewords in their books would testify. The foreword of In-Depth Acting is written by Pierce Brosnan. And the foreword of Second Circle is written by Sir Ian McKellen.

What was your first professional film/TV role and what are your memories of it?

Courage (1986) starring Sophia Loren

This is a funny story really because my first professional job was based on the curiosity of the profession. I always wondered what it was like on a film set. So a friend of mine suggested trying to be an extra on a film set. So this is years ago mind you, and by chance, I bumped into someone who gave me such an opportunity. So there I am on my very first film set all wide-eyed and probably just getting in the way, when the director came by and told me to “sit down in that chair.” The next thing I heard was, “Quiet on the set.” Then I heard high heel shoes approaching from behind. I turned and looked as a hand came down to my face and a voice said, “Hello, I’m Sophia Loren.” That’s my first memory of being on a professional film set, and I’ll never forget it.

It appears that you’ve had a recurring role on The Flash. What have you enjoyed about your role and being a part of that show?

With Tom Cavanagh The Flash

Due to the NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) I signed, I can’t say much until all the episodes air. I can say the cast and crew are wonderful. And it an absolute pleasure to go to work.

I’ve seen My Mother’s Future Husband (the lead actor, Sebastian Spence, is one of my good friends). What was it like being a part of that cast? Any special memories?

Sebastian is such a great guy, isn’t he! Being a part of My Mother’s Future Husband is such a tender memory for me due to working with Lea Thompson. She was so kind and I was just trying not to fan out too much due to her films like Some Kind of Wonderful and of course, Back To The Future franchise. But a wonderful surprise for that movie was meeting Jacob Tremblay because that was just before his huge success. And he is every bit of talent.

This past Christmas, you were a part of the movie Every Day is Christmas. While this wasn’t Hallmark, this was your first Christmas movie (I think). What did you enjoy about filming this movie?

Every Day Is Christmas with Gloria Ruben

The joy of working on Every Day Is Christmas was working with Toni Braxton. I have so many friends and family that love her and are fans (myself included). So to be in a movie with Toni Braxton and have her run into my arms was otherworldly. And she was so nice, just a dream person.

Hallmark viewers recently saw you in Bottled With Love. (I’m also good friends with Andrew Walker) What did you know about Hallmark before making this movie? Why do you think the network is growing so fast?

I wasn’t aware of the depth of the Hallmark Network before, but I think the reason Hallmark Network is growing so fast is due to the likes of Andrew Walker and Bethany Joy Lenz. When I saw the movie, all I thought was about the talent and chemistry they had in every scene. They were amazing! When you do a movie, you don’t get to see all the moving parts and characters. So to see the final product…I’m very proud to have been a part of that. I really enjoyed the movie.

What was most memorable about being a part of your first Hallmark movie?

What was most memorable about being a part of my first Hallmark movie? That’s a good question. And a tough question because there are so many wonderful things about the whole process. Landing the role after giving your best in the audition. Working with these two wonder leads Andrew Walker, who is so kind and personable, and Bethany Joy Lenz was so generous and insightful.

Any other upcoming roles you can mention?

Sadly, there is another NDA for a small but fun role in a big film that is going to be released this summer. I wish I could say more, but not to worry as you won’t miss it.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I’ve been learning how to swim. I have a swim coach, who I love, and I’m really starting to understand swimming. Just this last January, I swam to Flat island from Kailua Beach, Hawaii. That was a big achievement for me.

Wow, this has been so fun! Thank you for all the questions! Happy to be a part of the Hallmark family.

And, Everick, we are glad to have you here too! We hope Hallmark will continue to cast you in more projects!

What an inspiration Everick is. While some people wouldn’t even dream of entering a potentially precarious industry like entertainment as an “older” person following a somewhat nontraditional path, Everick didn’t permit anything to deter him from his dreams and his passions. He determined to plunge into this career with every fiber of his being, and now he is beginning to reap the vast rewards. Perhaps he may never become a household name, but I tend to think that as long as he can continue to experience opportunities that fuel his soul, he will never take a single one for granted. He is in the acting industry for the right reasons, and he has brought something unique and relatable to each of his roles. His humility, kindness, and work ethic are fully evident in all that he does, and it boggles the mind to imagine just where we might see him in the weeks, months, and years to come.
If you have not had the opportunity to watch Bottled With Love on the Hallmark Channel, be sure to tune in Friday, April 26th or consult your guide for the next available showing. Additionally, I would invite you to visit all of Everick’s links below and even consider following him on your preferred social media platform. The fact that Everick has partnered with Hallmark, I tend to think we have not seen the last of him on the network. Moreover, his acting credits are fairly broad and diverse, and I can hardly wait to see what will happen in the future for this generous, talented, benevolent artist.
