Consider Private Music Lessons

In this day and age of educational cutbacks where public schools are slashing budgets at an alarming rate, the first program that often receives the proverbial ax is the fine arts program. As a former music teacher myself, I can attest to the fact that music and performing arts are often seen as superfluous.  Since there are no standardized tests and the value of music education is often downplayed, once a decision is made to cut the music program from a school budget,  chances are slim that music will ever become a standard again in the core curriculum.

Thankfully, parents have options when this travesty occurs. Parents can turn to places that offer private music instruction. The Note Room, located in Peoria, AZ, is fully equipped to provide these kinds of private music lessons in guitar, drums, or piano. In fact, they are even able to offer private voice lessons for those with the desire to learn to sing. This is a viable option for parents of children who are seeking to bridge the music gap left by the public education system.

There is nothing quite as satisfying as a young person who is able to pick up a guitar and provide background music for any type of gathering. Well-qualified teachers will be able to give these children the one-on-one attention they so need to become proficient musicians. When looking for private guitar lessons in Peoria, AZ, it’s pretty hard to do better than the Note Room.

Some parents wonder about the benefits of studying music, especially in a private lesson format. As one who took piano lessons for six years in my elementary and middle school years, I can attest to the fact that the benefits reach far beyond the private studio. There is a direct correlation between higher academic scores and music lessons.  I was a “straight A” student, and I have seen the same thing manifest itself in my daughter’s life as she has studied music as well. Furthermore, musical performances give the children an opportunity to build their confidence while demonstrating their skills.

When selecting to study music at the Note Room, you can rest assured that your child’s best interest is always at the forefront.  They only hire highly qualified teachers who must meet certain standards before beginning to teach there. They also come in with a mindset that this is not just a filler class; it is an opportunity to provide instruction in music that will last a lifetime, far beyond the student’s school days. Music appreciation is something that will make each child a better citizen who is able to understand the creative processes behind the creation of music and the arts, and hopefully, each one will become an advocate for these classes as an adult.

It’s nice to know that the option of studying other instruments exists as well. Having a choice that extends beyond guitar or piano is important as no child fits in a proverbial box. If your child begins with guitar and discovers that it is not his/her cup of tea, you and your child can make an educated decision to try another instrument or even study voice. No matter what the student ultimately chooses, it can only benefit him/her and add to his/her well-rounded liberal arts education.

While the performing arts is something that is not standard in the public schoolroom as it once was, it is a relief to both parents and their children that supplemental education exists elsewhere. If both the child and parent commit in seeking out the very best, there is no doubt that they will find the options that fully meet their needs. And patronizing a local music academy may be the best alternative for everyone.
