Today is the history of a momentous day in church history. On this date in 1521, Martin Luther was excommunicated from the Catholic Church by Pope Leo X. If you know the story of the Reformation, Martin Luther was one who dared to question some of the long-held beliefs and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. He had defended his belief before the Diet of Worms (I love that name–I realize it is German, but I can’t help but put my English understanding on it), and he was defiant. He refused to recant, so this was the outcome.

Diet of worms…lol. Cool information. Although I’ve heard of Martin Luther many times, I really didn’t know much about him. Thanks for sharing.
