With the busy life I have, I often have to resort to mobile technology to keep in contact with people. And since I am a single mom, I don’t always have time to go out and make friends (except online). I have met really great people through social media, but I often find that facebook and twitter are not enough when I’m on the go. I would like a mobile app that integrates social media while connecting with even more people who have similar interests.
I would like to tell you about a recent app I discovered–Hot or Not! At first, this app may not seem like a viable option. After all, it asks the users to rate others on their level of “hotness.” It sounds rather shallow at the outset, but keep an open mind, and you might be surprised. Users do get to look at the pictures, but there is so much more to consider. Users can look at the location, interests, and much more before they actually rate other users. If you have mutual facebook friends, your hotness level will go over the top!
Once you fill out all the information about yourself, you can get your score. It will be calculated on a ten-point scale. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t have a high score. It is almost impossible to get a score of ten. Also, the more you rate people and people rate you, the more that will be reflected in your “hotness” score. To make this even more fun, facebook, twitter, and instagram are fully integrated into the app. Find your friends on this app, and your score will continue to improve.
I do realize the possible pitfalls of this app. In addition to its being quite addictive (what social media outlet isn’t?), it can crush or inflate someone’s ego. This app is not meant to be used as uncategorical proof of someone’s hotness or to be used as a way to tear others down. This is supposed to be a way to meet others in a fun, inventive way. I know that’s how I plan to use it!
So be sure to download the app from itunes, google play, or even facebook. And don’t forget to enter their $1000 sweepstakes today. Someone should win–why not you?
