I have heard of Buck Rogers and even watched the late 1970’s television show, but I didn’t know how long it had been around.  On this date in 1932, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century began its successful radio series’ run.  It was first called The World in 2432.  It ran a 15-minute program Mondays through Thursdays until 1940 (with some schedule changes).  Then it picked  up again from 1946-1947.  It even sparked a short-lived television show in the early 1950’s.  I doubt many kids know of this series now, but it was a big deal back in the day.
