L. Ron HubbardOn this date in 1954, this man (and his followers) established the First Church of Scientology.  I will be the first to admit that I know very little about Scientology, and I would not ever follow this particular way of thinking.  I know Ginger Rogers was a devout Christian Scientist, and Tom Cruise is one as well.  This first church was established in Los Angeles,  so maybe it makes sense that some Hollywood stars tend to be drawn to this religion.  L. Ron Hubbard was the founder of this religion, but it was the Scientologists themselves who claim to have founded this.  I have recently discovered their new television ad, but there are certain things that really bother me, namely their views on medical science.

How interesting to just start a religion. I’m used to hearing about religions that have been around for centuries, this one has been around for decades. Just different.
