Disclosure: I received Heinz®, Johnsonville® and Ocean Spray® products in exchange for sharing this recipe. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
‘Tis the season for “busyness” and hurried meals. This often means take-out and generally unhealthy, tasteless meals. Johnsonville, Heinz, and Ocean Spray have a a solution to the dinnertime blues. Johnsonville has a great new line of meatballs that are so easy to incorporate into an easy meal or party dish.
If you happen to be in an area where their new meatballs are not yet sold, Johnsonville still has a solution for you. They have some amazing Italian Sausage Links that make amazing meatballs as well.
Here is the recipe we got to try:
Italian Meatballs
1 package Italian Sausage Links (Johnsonville, of course)
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup dry bread crumbs (I used crushed crackers instead)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup finely chopped onion (I left these out)
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Put egg, bread crumbs, cheese, milk, and onion in bowl.
3. Remove the links from the casings. Easy to do! Cut the sausage link end to end, about three quarters way through. Flip sausage link over, grasp casing, and pull off. Add these links to the mixture in the bowl.
4. Shape into 20 sausage balls, and place in a shallow baking pan.
5. Bake about 20 minutes and serve.
These sausage bowls are rather mushy, but they cook up really nicely. And they taste really good!
You can add these to pasta with sauce, but we ate them as is with some barbecue sauce. I thought they would be greasy, but they weren’t. And they did not upset anyone’s stomach. I was very pleased to get to try this, and so was my family.
I would invite you to check out this recipe for their ultimate meatballs as well. And if you would like to know more about the companies, check out the following information! We can hardly wait to have this recipe again!
