buffalo wingsThere is some discrepancy on the date and the story when investigated, but it seems to be on this date in 1964, the first buffalo wings were made.  Teressa Bellissimo, owner of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, took some chicken wings and smothered them in her homemade sauce.   She served them with blue cheese and celery–that’s all she had on hand.  The story goes that Catholics could not eat meat on Friday, so they had to come up with an alternative.  Is this true?  Buffalo, New York does not care!  Personally, I’m not a fan of Buffalo Wings all that much (unless they are boneless), but it is certainly a mainstay when watching sports.
