September SequelsWelcome to this fantastic giveaway hop hosted by Lisa Loves Literature and I Am A Reader, Not a Writer.  This book giveaway hop is a little different because it celebrates sequels.  This means that you don’t get to pick the first book in a series.  Nope–don’t even try it!  I have some Amish sequels I will be reading this month and next month, but I have to admit that the only sequel on my mind is the next book that follows Scarlet.  I love Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles, and I can hardly wait till the next book comes out!  I always love talking about her since she lives so near where I grew up–essentially down the street.

When it comes to sequels, I find that very often, they are better, but once in a while, they don’t live up to the hype.  No matter–one of my wonderful international readers will get to win a sequel the is $10 or less, and all you need to do is enter the rafflecopter below by 9 P.M. Pacific time on September 9.  You will also need to make sure that Book Depository, Fish Pond, and/or Amazon ship to you.  I also buy books on half.com if you live in the U.S.  That opens up more options when you can buy a used book.  After you enter my giveaway, be sure to hop on!

love sequels but sometimes when I’m really looking forward to a sequel and it takes about 2 years to be released, I don’t read at all because mainly I forgot what even happened in the first book. Really looking forward to Fire With Fire by Jenny Han!
    Thanks for the giveaway =)

Sequels… What can I say? I love sequels. I really do. I always say that I want more standalones, but then I read a great standalone and I am desperate for a sequel that won’t happen. So, yes, I love sequels. But I am always worried about the slump that happens sometimes! Still, most of the time, I am so happy to be immersed back into a world that I have already fell in love with!

I absolutely loved Shadows, the sequel to Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. It was just so tense and raw and actually had me afraid to continue reading. Definitely can’t wait for the final book to come out in the fall!

Sequel I’d like to read next is Unhinged by A.G. Howard (a tale that’s a spin off of the classic Alice & Wonderland!!!)

I think my favourite sequel is The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood. It’s the second book in a series and I’ve found a lot of second books are kind of meh. But this one was exceptionally written and more interesting than the first.

I feel like sequels really make or break a trilogy/series. They’re the pivotal point in which you decide whether the second book of this series/trilogy lives up to your expectations or not. If not, then you might not even consider moving on to the next book if there is one. A lot of authors nowadays stretch out series so much that it doesn’t feel necessary that there be a sequel in the first place or a trilogy/series. That’s why sequels are a make or break kind of thing for me, they tend to be really disappointing sometimes but sometimes, they blow my mind!

    Thank you:)

I love sequels that feature small towns. It’s always super fun to go and “visit” them again, especially since there are wonderful secondary characters you get to meet that show up again in sequels. One of my favorite is Susan Mallery and her Fool’s Gold series.
