“Yes, Veronica, There is a Rom-Com”: Social Media Stars Save Valentine’s Day with the Delight Called “Non-Transferable”

Christmas is long past.

Snowstorms blanket the country.

Doom and Gloom Reign Supreme.

Valentine’s Day is practically upon us, but with the world in shambles and bad news constantly at our fingertips, how can one get into the spirit of the season? It’s not like we have an Orphan Annie or a Shirley Temple to tell us that everything is fine. “The sun will come out tomorrow.” “Just go dance your troubles away.” Those quotes are so twentieth century.

And if you want to get “into the romantic mood,” you may find yourself settling for the classic Rom-Coms you’ve seen more times than you’d like to count. Or maybe you’ll give in and go watch a superhero film or an action-packed sci-fi thriller. After all, mainstream rom-coms are dead, right?

Well, thankfully we have other venues, and if there was a “Veronica” this time of year who sent a letter (okay, she probably would send an email or a tweet, come to think of it) to Cupid asking if romantic comedies were still in existence, he would be able to answer in the affirmative. “Yes, Veronica, there is a Rom-Com,” and it is the brainchild of none other than the insanely talented Brendan Bradley! Known to some as the “Staples Guy,” Brendan is not only proving that his talents far exceed the limits of his trademark red shirt, but he is demonstrating his limitless skills at what might be classed as “out-of-the-box” thinking, and his ingenuity just might resuscitate the hackneyed, decaying Rom-Com that everyone seems to declare is long dead.  He and his famous social media friends, Ashley Clements (Emmy Award Winner Lizzie Bennet Diaries) and Shanna Malcolm (HeyYoShanna) are bringing us the delightful treat called  Non-Transferable on February 14th.

Filmed for the most part in Turkey, Non-Transferable is a charming tale of two American strangers looking to cash in on an exotic holiday in a faraway land and all of the hilarious snafus that happen along the way; the perfect blend of French Kiss meets a Turkish Under the Tuscan Sun in this millennial rom-com that resonates even sweeter in light of today’s politics.

Amy Tyler (Clements) has planned the perfect surprise vacation for her boyfriend, Josh Merit (Christopher Smith; Enough Said, Harvard Sailing Team). But the real surprise is on her when he breaks things off on their anniversary. Stuck with reservations in her ex-boyfriend’s name, Amy’s two best friends – played hilariously by Malcolm and Katie Wee (The Joey Mac Project) – suggest if Amy can’t change the tickets…why not change the guy?

“I wrote the script five years ago and at the time, everyone said the story is too unrealistic, this would never happen in real-life,” remembers Bradley. “And then…it did. A Canadian guy by the name of Jordan Axani used social media to give away vacation tickets in his ex-girlfriend’s name, Elizabeth Gallagher. The real-life story reportedly received billions of media impressions, becoming the world’s most viral human interest story, ever.”

“Filming Non-Transferable was an absolute joy,” says Clements. “I relate to Amy’s desire to control her life and get things right, and living through her story was a good reminder that sometimes the real path to happiness is letting go and enjoying what’s happening, instead of always trying to change it. I’m also a sucker for rom-coms and loved the idea of returning to the heyday of the genre. I feel like part of the reason rom-coms are said to be dying is because they’ve gotten really mean-spirited, and to me one of Non-Transferable’s biggest selling points is that it’s a kind-hearted love story. I think that NT hearkens back to some of my favorite films, like French Kiss and You’ve Got Mail, and I think the audience of those older rom-coms will respond to our movie too.”

Now I realize that many of my readers are devoted Hearties. We are breathlessly awaiting the return of When Calls the Heart. But that show doesn’t start until after Valentine’s Day. And this “Veronica” doesn’t like the idea of not having something special like a fun and flirty rom-com in honor of this most romantic day of the year. I love to lose myself in those kinds of films. Yes, Hallmark is great, but sometimes you want something just a little bit different, you know? I’m a fan of variety, and I would best most of you are, too.

This Valentine’s Day pack your bags for a whirlwind adventure across three continents as two strangers find out if love can be transferred to someone new.

So here’s the deal. Some of you may wonder, “Now how does this project work?” Well, remember what I said about Brendan thinking “outside of the box”? Well, he’s done it yet again. Be sure to read on for more information, my fellow rom-com aficionados.

Lightning Entertainment, in partnership with technology company Swig Media, is utilizing proprietary PPV (Pay Per-View) portal technology that allows Non-Transferable to be experienced on any device, at anytime, from any website. The PPV portal, named “eTicket”, allows them to place Non-Transferable PPV portals on all partnering websites through affiliate marketing techniques. This essentially provides sponsors and advertisers with their own e-Theater for people to experience the film right then and there with no need to refer a waiting audience to a third-party destination site. With that said, Non-Transferable can also be found on iTunes, Amazon and all other major platforms during its 2017 roll out.

You read that right, my friends! Yes, you will be able to experience Non-Transferable anywhere! This is going to be one amazing experience! No need to go to the theater, buy popcorn and hope that you don’t end up in the front row or behind someone with a hair so big that it blocks your vision of the screen. Furthermore, you can enjoy this film at your house, by the pool (if you’re lucky enough to live in the warm weather tropics or desert at this time of year–I’m envious!), or even in your own makeshift drive-in theater in the privacy of your own driveway.

BUT I HAVE MORE TO TELL YOU!

If you would like to be a special part of history and get the word out about Non-Transferable, check out the incredible opportunity for you below!

Anyone, anywhere can automatically join our Live Stream of the Red Carpet Event where we will countdown to the official streaming premiere!

Now, that’s phenomenal, in my opinion. You sign up, click a few buttons, and you help get the word out about this magnificent film! I already signed up earlier this week, and both my Twitter and Facebook accounts will be getting the word out. I’ve used Thunderclap many times before, and the best thing is that you don’t have to be anywhere near your device or even on social media. You sign up, and it does it all on its own! No calendars, no notes, no rushing around like an insane person at the last possible moment. Ah, the joys of living in the twenty-first century!

I hope I can count on everyone’s support. Let’s help make “Veronica’s dream” come true and definitively answer her question about rom-coms! Let’s Be the Change and bring back this genre and show that even in the twenty-first century, this is a viable genre that people WANT to see!
