An Average Joe’s Pursuit for Financial Freedom offers a different perspective on money than what is traditionally taught by our parents and in our school systems. The reason there is such a discrepancy between the wealthy and the poor is due to the difference in the way money is perceived. We are not born with the ability to maintain wealth: it is something that is learned. The knowledge of knowing how to make money work to generate passive income is something that anyone can learn as long as they are disciplined. An Average Joe’s Pursuit for Financial Freedom is based on practical concepts and discusses the problems that the majority of us face with our personal finance.  The concepts in this book are based on theory by an author that practices what he writes about.

An Average Joe’s Pursuit for Financial Freedom: Change Your Perception of Money by Michael Warren Munsey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read my share of financial planning books in recent years, and normally, they are rather dull, dry, and boring. The language is often difficult to understand, and I walk away from the book knowing that the book is written well, but it does not inspire changes in my life.

What a breath of fresh air this book is! First of all, it is written in ordinary, layman’s English, and anyone can understand what the author is proposing. I know nothing about investing or anything like that, but the book is not technical–it is inspiring! The principles that are explicated bleed into other areas of life as well. Personal stories from both the author and his wife (a fantastic blogger, by the way!) caused the stories to truly come alive. While I did not immediately make dramatic changes, I was reminded to make goals and follow through (which I am in the process of doing). The author is very open about how he himself is struggling at times to implement his own suggestions. He emphasizes that this is a process; it is not an overnight sensation.

I highly recommend this readable book to anyone who is ready to make changes in his/her life, financial or not. Definitely worth the investment!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
