This Day in History November 11, 1938

I am so happy to report today’s feature.  On this date in 1938, Kate Smith introduced the great song “God Bless America” written by Irving Berlin to our country.  This is a song that always gets to me.  It’s simple, but it’s real.  And no matter what, no one can sing it like Kate Smith.   As we celebrate Veteran’s Day today, what a wonderful thing to share.  This is a song written by someone who was not even born in this country, but he loved it more than many citizens today.  I remember that there was even talk of this song replacing the national anthem at one point.  While I’m glad that didn’t happen, this stands as a song that expresses the sentiment that I hope many of us share.
