Fiery BrideFiery Bride by Cynthia Woolf

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book I have read by this author, and I found this book to have truly shown the author’s growth. While I loved the first romance I read of hers, this book showed a true maturity I had not seen by this author before. The story was incredibly well-written, and I was captivated from the beginning till the end. The characters were well-developed, and I loved the wonderful humor she added between the characters. She truly captured the spirit of the Old West and the entire mail order bride industry.

I will warn you that while the profanity is very minimal (even though quite unnecessary), the bedroom scenes are hot and intense. I would have preferred old-fashioned morality being emphasized within the book, but at least the intimate scenes were engaging and quite spirited.

I appreciate the fact that the author dealt with the issues of marital abuse and women’s lack of independence. Sometimes we forget that these were real issues even way back when, but mostly they were not discussed. I am so glad that our heroine was strong and sassy (and close to my age!). Lately, most of the romance novels I read do involve women in their 30’s and up, and I am grateful for this trend.

If you love historical romances along the lines of the Harlequin romance persuasion, this book will be right up your alley. It is short, somewhat predictable, but completely endearing.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
