A billionaire with a broken heart. An artist with secrets.

Max Heinzman is a devoted friend, a brilliant engineer, and a man who longs for a family of his own. Now that his software company has gone public, making him a young billionaire, he should be focused on his future—only Max can’t stop thinking about the past and the one woman he truly loved. How can he move forward when his heart is with Alana?

Alana Elliot is an artist with no time to paint and a family drowning in dysfunction. With her disabled sister needing constant care, there’s no time for love, even if she still pines for Max, her former husband.

A chance encounter in a small town reunites Alana and Max, bringing secrets to the surface and re-opening old wounds. Will their love be strong enough to conquer the obstacles pulling them apart?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Romance lovers can rejoice at this sweet, clean romance that though rather typical, it is completely free of anything offensive. No sex, profanity, or any violence. The book is well-written, short, and sweet, and it’s the perfect way to spend a cold winter’s evening (or any evening, for that matter).

Now, when I mention that the book is typical, that doesn’t mean that it’s bad. As we know, in romances like this, miscommunication and the concealment of facts is practically obligatory. What sets this apart is that both are concealing their pasts for very different reasons. In addition to this, Cristina has included some criminal activity and even a wonderful character who is disabled (but fully developed and integral to the story).

To be honest, this book should probably receive a 4.5, but the fact that this is a straightforward romance with no real surprises along the way is why I chose the rating I did. I do not mean to imply that the story is lacking in any way. The author created lovely characters and a delightful tale that will leave the reader feeling warm and fuzzy by the end of the book. If you like Hallmark movies, I can almost guarantee you will savor this book.
