Seeing how this is the third interview I’ve posted relating to the upcoming Hallmark Movies & Mysteries premiere Holiday Hearts, you might have picked up on the fact that I am totally stoked for this movie! Ever since I heard that Paul Campbell and Ashley Williams were joining forces in a Christmas movie, I didn’t need to hear any more than that!! I was aware of the fact that Ashley had an insane schedule, so I wasn’t even sure if she’d be able to fit in an interview with me before the premiere. But you know me…I asked anyway!! Well, like the phenomenal professional she is, she agreed, gave herself a deadline to complete it, and here is the result of that endeavor!
RH: Last year, we saw you in Christmas in Evergreen 2, and we will see you again this year in the third installment. What can we anticipate from your character in the third movie this year?
AW: It is so much fun having a cameo in these movies! It’s always such a great group and a fun vibe, and since this is now our third movie, shooting it was like coming home. Allie is still with Ryan, and this is going to be her first Christmas away from Evergreen— they are going to Paris to celebrate the holidays this year. Allie’s a little weepy saying goodbye to her parents and friends as she heads out of town, driven by Holly Robinson Pete’s character, Michelle, in none other than her good old red truck!
The Christmas in Evergreen franchise seems to have become a yearly tradition at this point. Why do you believe these films are such huge fan favorites? Any chance for a fourth film next year?
I actually hear there ARE rumors of a fourth installment! What a BLAST that would be! I think Evergreen universally symbolizes an idyllic home environment we all crave around the holidays. It’s private, cozy, gorgeous, and full of familiar, happy faces. Who doesn’t need a visit to THAT place once a year?
You are in another Hallmark Christmas movie this year opposite Paul Campbell. I have to admit I’m insanely excited to see you both on-screen. I believe this is your first movie together. What was it like working with each other on and off the screen?
I LOVE PAUL CAMPBELL!! He is one of the funniest humans I have ever met. There were whole days the first week of shooting where my stomach hurt from laughing. I would work with him again in a heartbeat!! We also had a play date with our families at his house on one of our days off and our kids got along so well! By the time we wrapped, we were hatching plans to buy houses near each other in LA so we could share a nanny. I could not love him and his family more.
Please tell us a little about Holiday Hearts and how your character figures into it?
This is a movie about seeing the holidays through the eyes of a child. A little girl needs to be cared for in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and Paul and I are charged with entertaining her with Christmas activities while her father recovers from knee surgery. All of us get along beautifully and fall back in love with Christmas traditions… and our two lead characters make a romantic connection as well.
I see a few other things on IMDb in various stages of development. Can you comment on any of these and/or any of your other upcoming works?
I have been working my butt off!! I’ve got four projects in development with Hallmark and have a bunch of other things I’m cooking up as well. I’ve been writing like a fiend and am looking forward to directing my first movie this winter. I could not be more excited!!
I adored hearing you on a recap episode with the Bubbly Sesh earlier this year. It is clear you LOVE Hallmark movies as much as they do. Speaking of podcasts, have you ever considered starting your own podcast? Or maybe you and your sister doing one? I just thought you were one of the most entertaining guests they have had on the Bubbly Sesh.
I love the Bubbly Sesh girls!! I’m gonna do another recap with them in a couple weeks— their energy is contagious!! I’d love to start a podcast, but do not know where I’d find the time! Thanks for the compliment though!
If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would you choose and who would you take with you?
I can never seem to get enough of my sweet husband, especially these days with two kids and our crazy careers. To be perfectly honest, I’d kill for one night away with him, just us. At this point? I’d literally take a hotel room near my apartment in New York, so I could be close to the kids, some room service, and a bunch of DVDs!! That sounds like the best Christmas ever!!
It seems that every single person who has ever worked with Ashley is of the same opinion–she is simply amazing! Moreover, she is one who is refreshingly unique and not afraid to be “real.” She consistently promotes positivity and benevolence, and no matter what, she always seems to put everyone else before herself…indeed, the very essence of humility. I have witnessed her laboring tirelessly for humanitarian causes, and the energy that emits from innermost being is something that reaches beyond the confines of social media, the television set, or the conference hall. She never claims to be a woman who “has it all together,” and that merely adds to her charm and charisma. Ashley is an indisputable member of a rare breed in this world today: one who is committed to being the person she was meant to be in this world, regardless of what anyone else says, does, or thinks. She will be consistently true to herself, and she will go out of her way to assertively embolden others to be exactly that as well.
Therefore, I invite everyone–if at all possible–to tune in Saturday, November 23rd to the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Network for the movie that is literally going to propel the Christmas season into high gear, Holiday Hearts. (Premiering November 24th in Canada on the W Network) And don’t forget to come back to the Hallmark Channel November 29th for the premiere of Christmas In Evergreen: Tidings of Joy. {Premiering December 1st on the W Network) In addition to all this, I urge every person reading this post now to abandon whatever they are doing, click on each of Ashley’s links provided below, and follow her on each social media platform imaginable! Ashley is one who regularly challenges herself both professionally and personally to new heights, and that quality alone endears her to me all the more. As far as I’m concerned, Ashley is a phenomenal human being, and her persona and attitude are reflective of a consummate balance between perseverance and dreams. Perhaps Eleanor Roosevelt said it best: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” I am immensely grateful to Hallmark and to Ashley for demonstrating in such a brilliant manner that dreams can and do come true as long as you are willing to work hard and believe. It is an honor to be able to support Ashley in her blossoming career, and I do hope that everyone else will join with me in this objective!
