SOUL MEND was written to break people out of their emotional chains! I know first hand what such things as anxiety, strife, guilt, and unforgiveness feel like. I know first hand how devasting these emotions can be on the physical body. After walking through some of these issues and recovering from a debilitating diagnosis I decided it was time to go back to school, get my counseling degree, and help other people! In SOUL MEND I cover the three sources of negative thinking and how they impact our emotional and physical health. There are chapters on; a broken heart, stress, guilt, self-reproach, anxiety, and anger/bitterness. Each chapter contains study questions to help the reader identity and heal from toxic emotions. The book ends on a uplifting and encouraging note on how God created you to walk in His destiny and His goodness. There is always a purpose in your pain and the Bible is clear that what the enemy meant for evil God promises to turn around for God when we seek Him (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28). I am excited to go on this journey with you and help you discover the healing and destiny that awaits you
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Q: Why did you decide to pursue a career as an author?
A: I did not set out to be an author, I was facilitating a Bible Study in my home and the topic was the Song of Solomon. The study was so inspirational that one of the ladies suggest I turn the Bible Study content into a book…and I did. My first book was a commentary on the Song of Solomon.
Q: When you are writing what does your daily schedule look like?
A: When I am writing, I like to have intense hours of writing and researching and then I will have to step outside and breathe in some fresh air. Sometimes I like to do some house cleaning to get my body moving. 😊
Q: When writing non-fiction, how do you keep the books from becoming “textbook” renditions to making the stories come alive so people are interested in them?
A: That saying “there is purpose in your pain”….I have been through many difficult trials and it is the life experience that I include in my writings that prevent the book from becoming too textbook. It is one of the joys of my life to know that something I have gone through, and grown through, will help someone else.
Q: The perception is that non-fiction is harder to write than fiction. Is that true for you, why or why not?
A: As I mentioned above, one my greatest joys is writing about my life experiences to help other people. And in that lies the difference between writing fiction and non-fiction (at least for me). When I write about the difficulties I have been through I am choosing to become vulnerable to the reader. There is no hiding behind a character in a fictious storyline. By the way, I have a Fiction manuscript completed, but it sounds more like a screenplay…praying about what to do with that. 😊
Q: What is one topic that you would love to write a book about but have not been able to as of yet?
A: The topic that I would like to write about but have not as of yet is Health and Nutrition. I have dealt with physical illness and what we put into our bodies greatly affects us. We are a three-part being; body, soul, and spirit, and all three parts need to be properly fed. I would love to cover the topic of nutrition at great length in a book!
