My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

First of all, I had no idea this was even a part of a series until I came here to post my review. So I will tell you this can definitely be read as a standalone. I suppose if you read the first book in the series, it might have a richer meaning and experience for you.

Secondly, there is nothing offensive in this book. I would have liked to have God included in the book more than it was, but the fact that it was a suspenseful thriller that was clean, I won’t even complain about that. There is no doubt that God was included in the undertones of this book.

Now, I can’t think of a better combination of elements to combine in one book. A mystery, a cowboy, look-alike twins, Christmas, and a bit of a romance. This is one of the only times I have read a Christian “thriller” and truly enjoyed the action. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I just encourage you to read the book. The writing is strong, smooth, and easy to read. This is the perfect change of pace for anyone who loves Christmas but doesn’t want a small-town romance. This is a refreshing book to pick up at this season of the year.

More from Dana

I just love Christmas, don’t you? In our area we have a lovely holiday train. It’s an old steam type train which is decked out in lights for festive holiday tours. I was so thrilled that this cover features just such a train. Of course, in the novel the train is the scene of hair raising danger! Maggie, our heroine in this novel, is a cook. She serves up some mouth watering dishes (when she’s not dodging a killer.) I thought perhaps you might enjoy a Mentink holiday family recipe! God bless you as we enter this holiday season!

Good to know that you didn’t feel there was anything offensive in it. Sometimes it’s hard for me to find books I can recommend to people from my church or teens.
