About the Book: She is a woman without a name. Chosen by men for her beauty, she refused to bend to their desires. Beaten and sold to a slave trader, she is left to die in a putrid dungeon.
Everything changes when she’s purchased by the thane of a foreign king and given a Jewish name.
The king needs her to save his kingdom. God calls her to an unimaginable future. Evil wants her for itself, and if it can’t have her, it will kill her. Mariamne wants none of the possibilities she’s offered.
Who will control Mariamne’s destiny?

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated in any way and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
First of all, if you are one who adores the adventure and romance of King Arthur and the times of kings and queens, this is a book you may wish to investigate. It is rare to find a Christian book that presents Scriptural lessons and a genuinely godly heroine, and I applaud the author for all of her efforts in this area. This is suitable for anyone who enjoys Christian historical fiction.
While I appreciated the way in which the book was written, I found myself vacillating between giving it a three- and four-star rating. I settled on 3.5 because although it is definitely well-written, it failed to capture my attention the way most historical fiction books do. I felt that sometimes the Christian principles were a bit unnaturally placed, but I tend to be a stickler about such things. I’m sure it’s just a personal preference on my part, but I supposed I wanted a bit more action than what the book offered.
However, I can state that this book in an anomaly in that one will be hard-pressed to find a story from this time period with solid Christian principles. For that feat, I salute the author for her attention to detail. The mood of the book was definitely appropriate, and possibly someone who thrives on these kinds of stories will find it more to their liking.
