As an avid watcher/supporter of everything Hallmark, it only makes sense that I would enjoy Hallmark’s Signature Mystery Series. And indeed, that assumption is undeniably accurate! Morning Show Mysteries is a relatively new addition to the mystery series line-up on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and from the moment the series premiered last year, I was taken with Milah Thompson, who plays Emma, Ian’s (Rick Fox) daughter. Recently, I had the opportunity to interview this starlet, and I am honored to share our conversation with my readers today.

RH: When did you first think about becoming an actress and why?

MT: It was a few years ago. My older brother was acting in commercials. I went to watch him on set one day (there were fireworks and a firetruck!) and thought it was so cool, so I asked if I could do it too.

I think The Crossing was your first TV/film credit. What do you remember about your role and working on that show?

Yes, The Crossing was my first TV credit. I remember my character was supposed to be really scared. I had so much fun because I was allowed to scream and yell and kick while they were dragging me away. Everyone was so nice and it was a really fun experience.

Please tell us about your movie The Perfection. What did you enjoy about making this movie?

I had a small role playing one of the main characters when she was younger. I was actually sick and there was a huge snowstorm, so I almost didn’t make it to set that day. I had a lot of fun and the food was really good.

Hallmark fans have fallen in love with you in the Morning Show Mysteries series as Ian’s daughter, Emma. What did you know about the Hallmark network before playing this role? Had you ever seen any of the mystery series?

Thank you – I love playing Emma! I knew about Hallmark cards, but not the network. I hadn’t seen any of the mystery series.

What do you enjoy most about playing Emma? What is it like to work with Rick Fox, Holly Robinson Peete, and the rest of the cast and crew on that? Have you met Al Roker yet?

I enjoy playing Emma because she is very similar to me. She loves to read and bake and have fun with her friends. I like the clothes Emma wears too. Every time I go to wardrobe, I say which one is my favourite and it usually ends up being the outfit I get to wear.

Rick is very funny and easy to work with. He loves sweets–like me–and every time there is a scene with desserts, we both dig in!

Holly is super nice and very easy to work with too. She helps me in between scenes with my lines. She is really friendly with everyone on set. She always looks nice in all her dresses too!

Everyone I have worked with at Hallmark has been awesome. Sometimes they give me flowers and treats from the set to take home.

I have not met Al Roker, as he has not been filming the same days as me.

Without giving any spoilers, what has been your favorite episode of the four so far and why?

My favorite episode has been Countdown To Murder when I was talking about the science of baking and signing Billie and Ian up for salsa lessons. I enjoyed it because it is similar to something I would do. I have enjoyed all the episodes and I get excited when I hear a new one is coming up!

Any other upcoming works you can mention?

Nothing I can mention, however, I have been busy filming commercials and I have a couple cool Nintendo Switch commercials that just came out!

How does school work for you when you’re filming?

Most of the time I miss school to film unless it falls on a weekend. My teachers at school are very understanding and give me school work to do while on set. Depending on how many days during a week I am filming, I sometimes get an on set tutor. They help me with my work and sometimes we play educational games. One time I was really tired after a long day of shooting and we still had forty-five minutes of school to squeeze in, so the tutor gave me “P.E.” class and we played football.

Who would be your “dream” person in the entertainment world to work with?

My dream person to work with would be Emma Watson. I had a blast watching her as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and as Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I love playing sports and hanging out with my friends. I play volleyball, softball and take dance lessons. I love to watch movies and play games. With summer coming up, I am looking forward to lots of bike rides and camping.

In truth, Milah is presently establishing herself within the world of film and television, and there is no doubt that she is off to a fabulous start. She couldn’t ask for a better series on which to recur, and it would appear that the leads in the series have bonded with her in a special way. As she continues to pursue her career within this bustling, frenetic industry, I have no doubt that she will remain as grounded and as pleasant as she is now because not only does she have a good head on her shoulders, but it’s clear that she has incredible familial support. Moreover, she is gifted, beautiful, and effervescent, while leaving an indisputable impression on the screen with her sweet, ingenuous depiction of the characters she is given to portray.

If you have not had the occasion to watch Morning Show Mysteries on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, be sure to tune in for the reprise of the recent trio of offerings on Sunday, May 12th. (If you live in Canada, City TV does seem to be the network to broadcast this series, so I would recommend keeping an eye out for it.) I would also invite my readers to check out Milah at her link below in order to take a look at her other works. While we await further Morning Show Mysteries episodes and more from this delightful young lady, I am certain my readers will wish to join me on this quest of supporting Milah over the course of what is purported to be a long, successful career in the business. After all, young people are our future, and isn’t it a comfort to know that artists like Milah still do exist? She certainly calms my reservations when it comes to considering the future of this world!
