Female Entrepreneurship: The Wave of the Present

It wasn’t that long ago that the idea of a woman founding her own business was almost an absurdity in the marketplace. While women could enter the business world and possibly create a business that catered to the needs of wives and mothers, they were often considered high-risk investment, and the idea of becoming a viable, profitable business was merely a distant dream that only a few lucky women were able to accomplish. Thankfully, women entrepreneurship is much more commonplace, and the chances of these female-owned and female-founded businesses becoming heavy hitters within the global economy is no longer a far-fetched, laughable dream. It’s a reality!

The options for women in the twenty-first century are practically endless. It used to be that women couldn’t have it all even if they chose to pursue their vision within the corporate world, but that is all in the past. Inspiring, successful businesswomen like Chrissy Weems have beaten the odds and paved the way for other women to pursue their goals as well. As she has stayed true to her vision within the business world, she has demonstrated that a woman can found a business and still maintain her values. Women like her continue to show that energy, ingenuity, and a commitment to social good can have a lasting impact in so many sectors of society. Not only that, but she is happily married and has five kids who are thriving. If that doesn’t counter what the “experts” have claimed for years, I don’t know what does.

Fortunately, there are not only an abundance of opportunities out there for women today, but there is also a plethora of help for those who wish to found their own businesses. There are a wide variety of government programs, organizations, training and more that can help women as they attempt to implement their visions within the world of small businesses. It would be a smart move on the part of aspiring business owners to make the decision to utilize some of the aid that exists out there. After all, we know that the odds of ultimate success are greatly increased when we feel like we are not alone. Moreover, having expert advice at your fingertips can often make things happen much more easily and more quickly than they would have without otherwise.

The most important thing that everyone needs to remember is not to underestimate the power of female entrepreneurship in today’s society. While women have made significant advancements to reverse the misconceptions that existed for centuries, the fact of that matter is that misinformation is still permeating the world today. Every time a woman bucks the system and succeeds with her small business venture, it is yet another accomplishment for womankind. It should be a time of celebration for all business owners, but sometimes women feel threatened by other women. In fact, it is unfortunate that chauvinists still exist in today’s culture, and sometimes those men refuse to honor the accomplishments of women. Therefore, it is imperative that female entrepreneurs garner all the support they can get from their families, friends, the community, and the government in order to ensure genuine and long-lasting success. Women in business are definitely here to stay, and I tend to think that anyone who doesn’t support this division of societies is doomed to be left behind as women continue their steady advancements within the global marketplace.
