If you were one of the millions of people who tuned in and watched It’s Christmas, Eve this holiday season on the Hallmark Channel (or the W Network), you may have noticed the actor/musician Josh Bogert. While this wasn’t the first time Hallmarkies saw him, 2018 was a big year for him in terms of this network. Recently, Josh agreed to answer a few questions about his career, including his Hallmark work, and I am pleased to present this interview with my readers today.
RH: How/Why did you decide to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
JB: From the first time I performed at my violin recital at the age of four, I loved being on stage and sharing that moment with the audience. I’ve always had an interest in creating and sharing with others, and the entertainment industry allows me to do that every day.
What kind of musical and acting training have you had?
When I was very young, I trained in classical violin for seven years. Throughout High Schoo,l I took lessons in Voice, Guitar, Saxophone, drums, piano, and music theory. Since being on the Family Channel Show Backstage, I’ve taken quite a few acting intensives at various studios.
Please tell us about your time in the show Backstage. What did you enjoy most about being a part of that show?
Filming Backstage was one of the craziest experiences. I was on set doing what I love every day, and I made lifelong friends with the cast and crew of the show. Backstage also connected me with people who were instrumental in taking my career in music to the next level, and provided an invaluable social media fanbase.
Recently, you’ve appeared in a couple of Hallmark movies. How familiar were you with this network before making those movies?
Being an actor in Vancouver, I think we’re all familiar with the many Hallmark movies filmed in the area. My family enjoys the Hallmark movies that air on our local networks, especially around Christmas time.
Please tell us about your time working in Wedding Of Dreams. What was it like being on set with Debbie Gibson?
Although I was on set for just one day for Wedding Of Dreams, I could tell there was a good group of people working on the project. Everyone, including Debbie, was so friendly and I had an awesome time filming the movie!
This Christmas, we saw you in It’s Christmas, Eve. What was memorable about being a part of that film?
Filming It’s Christmas, Eve was a fantastic experience! The most memorable part of any project is the friendships created on set, and I was fortunate to connect with some great people during the week I was filming.
I know you also have some music that has been released. Please tell us about that part of your career.
So far, I’ve released a Self-Titled EP, as well as two single releases, “Blink” and “Magic” over the past few years!
Any upcoming works you can mention?
I have a ton of new material that I’m just itching to release this coming year, so starting in January I’ve got a new single “Dad’s Car” dropping on the 11th, and I’m aiming to put out new songs monthly!
Do you have any goals/dreams for the new year?
In 2019 I plan to work harder than ever on getting my music out and making new connections with people in the industry, as well as to continue auditioning for roles as an actor.
How do you keep yourself grounded and away from negative influences as a young person in the business?
I’ve been very fortunate to have so many positive influences around me throughout my career so far, both in my personal relationships as well as on social media. I think the key to staying grounded is to surround yourself with people who have a positive effect, drowning out the negative influences.
I had no idea until performing my research that I had seen Josh before It’s Christmas, Eve. I was a huge fan of Backstage, and I am rather sorry that the show did not continue. Now that Josh has become a part of the Hallmark family, I tend to think that there is a good chance that he may be called upon again in the near future to appear in another Hallmark movie. While his focus does appear to be music, there is no denying the fact that acting is one of his many abilities as well. In my opinion, Josh seems to be one of those entertainers who is adept at “doing it all,” and I expect colossal things from him down the line. The fact that he proceeds to learn and grow while maintaining a positive, humble spirit only makes him that much more an advantageous professional in the industry.
If you have not seen his performance in It’s Christmas, Eve, I happen to know that it is available on Amazon and other various online services, and I would invite you to check it out at your earliest convenience. Additionally, consider visiting all of his links below and following him where applicable. As a young man with a promising future, Josh seems to be one of the “ones to watch.” I greatly anticipate his continuing success in the entertainment industry, and I hope that many Hallmark fans will join me in supporting this talented performer in all of his various pursuits.
