A few years ago, I had the pleasure of discovering a young lady in the first Gourmet Detective film that aired on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and shortly thereafter, she was also seen in When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark Channel. I interviewed Ali Skovbye then, and before long, she became one of my all-time favorite young actresses. As I have watched her grow into a young woman, witnessing the maturation of her giftedness has been an awe-inspiring saga, and it is my honor to highlight her yet again in this our third interview

RH: First of all, we had the opportunity to see you in all four Gourmet Detective films. Although the series is over, what are your favorite memories from working on that series?

Gourmet Detective

AS: I have a lot of great memories from working on that series. We did four movies together and kept getting to go back to Victoria and see each other to make another film which was such an amazing experience. We grew so much as a family and even Brooke’s {Burns} family grew throughout the four years as well. One of the best memories was the last film we did when Brooke had her baby on set, the cutest little thing. I’m very sad that the series has ended.

We saw you last Christmas in the When Calls the Heart Christmas movie. What did you enjoy about your time on that film? Is there any chance we may see at least a glimpse of you in the upcoming season of When Calls the Heart?

When Calls The Heart is another amazing show I’ve had the pleasure to work on. I’ve been on the show for three seasons now and every time I go back, I have so much fun with everyone. As far as seeing Becky in season six, I guess you’ll have to watch and find out(;

With Tiera

Please tell us about what it was like shooting Secrets of My Stepdaughter with your sister.

It was the first film me and my sister Tiera {Skovbye} shot together and honestly, it was a little weird at first. But we quickly got used to it and had such a blast! All we wanna do is work together again soon.

You were also on a few episodes of You, Me, Her. What did you enjoy about your time on that series?

You, Me, Her was by far the funniest project I’ve had the chance to work on. In between every scene, all of us actors would be in the green room and the whole cast would be cracking joke after joke… I genuinely to this day still don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard.

His Perfect Obsession recently premiered on Lifetime. What can you tell us about your role and how that fits into the story?

With Arianne Zucker
His Perfect Obsession

His Perfect Obsession is about a girl Abigail (whom I play) who recently lost her eyesight, and her mom Alison, played by Arianne Zucker, who move to a small town and get a new accountant Bart Mcgreggor. Everything seems fine at first, but they soon come to find out that Bart isn’t as innocent as he seems.

Any other upcoming works you can mention?

The Corruption of Divine Providence

Yes! My latest movie is the 20th Century Fox feature called Breakthrough hitting theatres April 12, 2019, and an indie film called The Corruption Of Divine Providence.

You can also see me in season three of The Man In the High Castle streaming now on Amazon Video.

The Man In the High Castle

What are the best parts about growing up in the entertainment business? What are the challenges?

The best part about growing up in the business is all of the amazing people you get to meet and create lifelong friendships with and all of the amazing places you get to travel to while working. It’s a bit challenging because I’m still in high school and managing both the acting and my school work can be really difficult at times, but I make it work!

Now that you are older, what is something that you are hoping to get to do in the business that you haven’t been able to as of yet?

I would absolutely love to have my own TV show!!(:

Do you have plans beyond being an actress, or are you going to just focus on being an actress at this point?

I’ve thought about it a lot and at this point, I don’t totally know. I know that college is definitely something I want to experience at some point in my life, but acting is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

With Carter

We would love to see you in another Hallmark movie! If you could star with anyone in a Hallmark movie, whom would you choose and why?

I think that they should make a Hallmark movie with me and Carter {Ryan Evancic} (Cody and my brother in When Calls The Heart) about our life before we came to Hope Valley, and what it was that led us there.

Who’s the “biggest celebrity” you have met at this point in your life? What was that experience like?

When I was younger, I did a movie with Kathy Bates, Ashton Kutcher, and Michelle Pfeiffer. and recently I filmed a movie with Chrissy Metz and Topher Grace. Both experiences were very different, but they were all lovely. I loved watching and learning from them and I was definitely very star struck.

The profundity of Ali’s expertise in the world of acting is something that I believe to which most young actresses could only aspire, but Ali is not one who has rested on her innate abilities alone. She has labored intensively to hone her craft, and she has consistently made the most of every opportunity she has been given. I have no doubt that it does help that her sister is also an actress and they are close, but Ali has forged ahead and created a name for herself that has demonstrated her eagerness to embrace any role, even the ones that may present unique challenges. Moreover, her collaborative mentality has served her well. While we do not know if we shall see her in season six of When Calls the Heart, I believe that we can rest assured that Ali is a young artist who will advance in her quest to be an actress who tackles diverse content with joy, humility, and skill. I would invite everyone to check out all the links below and be sure to watch for her upcoming works as well as her current ones (she was amazing in His Perfect Obsession). I am excited to see all of Ali’s hard work paying off, and I thrilled that she is successful and being recognized for her work. In short, I can hardly wait to see what the future holds for this blossoming starlet!
