If you are in a position where you’re just beginning a relationship with the Lord, understand that you’re beginning a beautiful journey. When you’re able to connect with the Lord, this gives you a foundation that nothing else in this world can give. If you’re wondering how you can develop your relationship, there are a few things you’ll want to do on a regular basis. Consider these four tips as you move further in your relationship with Christ and learn how to connect with God.
1. Set aside time in the morning for devotion.
When you first wake up in the morning, spend time in devotion. You can start with 15 minutes. Some people love to stay in a devotional period for an hour. The time is up to you. However, during this time, Focus solely on connecting with the Lord. The way you can do this is by starting with a prayer of gratitude. Afterward, find a devotional book that has inspirational words for you to start your day. You can also listen to a worship song after reading the Bible and your devotional book. Then, you can end this process with a prayer to start the day.
2. Listen to positive messages.
If you have a long commute to work, consider listening to a favorite preacher. Many churches offer their messages on podcast apps. You can also listen to the audio version of the Bible or worship music. When you do this, you allow specific messages into your heart. It’s better to spend more time listening to uplifting messages because that’ll help you maintain a certain spirit.
3. Study more about your challenges.
If you are in the middle of a tough challenge in your life, start to study more about how you should handle that challenge. For example, if you are struggling with jealousy, read what the Bible has to say about jealousy. The same can be said for fear, doubt or financial scarcity. Whatever your personal struggle is in the present moment, take the time to study more about it because that’ll help you connect with God and pass the test.
4. Be consistent.
You can’t develop a great relationship with the Lord if you’re not consistent with it. If you only talked to your best friend once or twice every other month, this relationship would suffer. In order for a relationship to flourish, you have to spend time nurturing it. This same concept applies to the Lord. Be consistent in your pursuit of a relationship with Him.

I like these tips, they are something that we need to look at daily and weekly. It’s easy in the everyday world of confusion to get confused and influenced by others. Setting a plan to keep up with your standards with God is a very important task for you to complete for yourself and your family.
