I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
I have truly come to appreciate these “sweet with heat” books by Addison Cole, and I have to say that she has found a happy medium when crafting these romantic tales. She has found a way to take out the bedroom scenes and any bad language while still telling an engaging story that reminds the hopeless romantics in all of us why falling in love is such a cherished and much-sought-after sensation.
In this book, the only criticism I have concerns the heroine, Jana. I truly struggled to like her. She seems rather lost at times, and she certainly doesn’t treat Hunter with much respect. I suppose she’s lying to herself about how she genuinely feels about him and what she wants from this life. I couldn’t believe how patient Hunter was with her. That guy is an absolute keeper, in my opinion! I’ve never been placed in the position of desiring someone just for an ongoing “booty call,” but I know it happens. I am grateful that Addison was able to let us peer into the mind and heart of both Hunter and Jana. And at least by the end, I was feeling a bit kinder towards Jana. So while this wasn’t my favorite “Seaside” novel, I can still say it was worth the read and probably included more realism than expected. It is definitely a nice addition to the series, and I look forward to continuing the journey with the characters in “Seaside Summers” whenever I can.
