A little over two years ago when I was just beginning to interview actors, Andrea Brooks was one of the first people who agreed to chat with me during season three of When Calls the Heart. It was at that moment that we connected, and since then, we have kept in contact and done a few more interviews. Recently, I had the opportunity to converse with Andrea again, and since we had met just a few months previously at the Hearties Family Reunion, it was as though we were beloved friends (which, in truth, we are). Each time I chat with this incredible woman, I am more impressed with her comprehensive knowledge of film and television, and the way in which she interacts online with the fans and portrays her characters on screen is an unadulterated phenomenon. While this interview is a bit lengthier than most, I was genuinely unable to eliminate much of our conversation as we covered such an enormous array of topics. Please savor my mini-symposium with the vivacious, intelligent, and engaging Andrea!

RH: Andrea, it is so nice to chat with you again. And it was simply lovely meeting you in November.

AB: Same here, Ruth. I always love chatting with you.

{We proceeded to discuss a medical condition that we had just learned my daughter has involving her susceptibility to fainting.}

I understand that completely. I have fainted my entire life, so I understand the embarrassment and panic. I am one of those who had trouble any time nurses came in and did presentations or anytime someone talked about surgeries, I would get really anxious and I would collapse. So I can relate.

The thing I have learned is that whenever I feel it coming on, I know I have about thirty seconds to sit down and put my head down until that feeling goes away. I remember that I fainted in class when they were showing us how to dissect fish. I fainted in front of all my friends. And I can remember a couple other times it happened. People would always get worried about me when I fainted, but thankfully, I was only embarrassed more than anything and not hurt. All I needed to do was go home and sleep, which I did willingly.

That’s kind of ironic that you faint and yet you’re playing a nurse on When Calls the Heart. 

It’s actually extremely ironic. My family reminds me of this quite often. And they think it’s really good for me. My aunt is actually a dentist, and she had the same problem as me when she was growing up. But she got over it. Now she administers needles and does surgery. So since she’s gotten over it, she’s made me believe that I can get over it too. I think that When Calls the Heart has helped me in some ways. It’s forced me to think that if someone has broken their arm, what do you do? You have to be in charge; there’s no “ifs, ands or buts.” So at least it’s forced me to think of these things in a new way, which I think is actually good.

And that’s what I have read about this condition is that sometimes when you’re younger, you struggle with it, but then you can grow out of it.

My aunt has always said that you need to be desensitized or go through some kind of training to help you deal with it. So, yeah, it’s all mind over matter; it’s a psychological thing. I do remember in season two, I think it was, when I was doing Hamilton scenes, our props manager back then had done so much research, and he had all the old equipment. He had the old blood pressure machines, and it was so intricate. In fact, I think he had been in the army, so he had a lot of training. He said he was going to teach me how to take a pulse and all that other medical stuff. While he was great, I could feel myself begin to feel a little bit queasy. I remember at one point that they wanted me to do a blood pressure test for Jack’s brother, but one of the extras ended up doing it instead. I just felt too uncomfortable to do it. Thankfully, I wouldn’t do that now. I’ve come a long way since then. But back then, it was the tightening of the machine and it was really old, and it got to me.

I always thought I would be the one to be like that too, but actually, blood and all those medical things have never been an issue. However, I think my daughter’s father was like that, so I think she may have inherited it from him.

I think you’re right. There does seem to be a degree of genetics in there. My mom isn’t like that, but my dad and my uncle and my aunt struggled with it, so I think come by it honestly.

I know when we chatted at HFR, we didn’t have much time, and since you weren’t in the Christmas movie, there wasn’t a great deal to talk about.

Right. I was in A Harvest Wedding instead of the When Calls the Heart Christmas movie. It was just unfortunate timing. I also know there was a lot of shifting on When Calls the Heart with a new showrunner, and so it seemed like some things were running a bit behind. So in the end, the conflict was just too great. But I’m back now.

And Hearties are glad that you are. So, Andrea, are you able to tell us how many episodes you appear in this season?

To be honest, I don’t remember for sure. I think there’s two I’m not in because I had to shoot an episode of Supergirl, but it’s hard to remember sometimes because we’re always shooting two at once. I can say I was in every single block.  I can say that more or less, I make an appearance in almost every episode after the Christmas movie.

That’s good to know because you were definitely missed in the Christmas movie.

I got so many nice messages from people, and everyone was so concerned that I might not be back, but I assured everyone that I was coming back. Sometimes with timing and scheduling and contracts and the way things work, it’s just the way things end up happening. It’s also hard for the writers and producers and all because there are so many storylines now. Everyone has to make choices about what they’re going to focus on in certain episodes. But the nice thing about our show is that if someone feels their storyline is lacking somewhere, usually they compensate. Later on, they’ll often give you a full episode. And that’s just part of being in an ensemble cast.

Of course, I know the Hearties were disappointed that your love interest did not return this season. Niall {Matter} and I chatted about that a few months ago.

Sadly, that is true, but it is the nature of the business. And it’s good to remember that sometimes when people don’t come back, it has nothing to do with them being liked or disliked. It has to do with other projects and timing and maybe even when your contract expired. There is so much at play. Sometimes I worry with fandoms–not necessarily with the Hearties, but fandoms in general.  I don’t know if they know about all the working pieces. I had a really good conversation with Jack Wagner this season about those kinds of things. And we talked about how shows have to evolve, especially when you get past the first couple seasons and you’re moving on to seasons four or five, and you’re aiming for the next five. Not everyone can stick around, and it has nothing to do with liking the fans or liking the show. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles. We have to be prepared to move on and evolve. It’s sort of like real life. You really liked someone, and they had something that pulled them away, and you have to contend with that.

Excellent points, Andrea. And I do believe that the Hearties are okay and are willing to move on. And even though Niall is no longer a part of the series, we’re seeing him in other Hallmark things. In fact, we just saw him in a movie with Rachael Leigh Cook.

Oh, that’s right! They were actually shooting that film while we were shooting When Calls the Heart. So there was a day when a bunch of us–Lori {Loughlin}, Rachael, myself, Erin {Krakow}–we all did a workout class together and hung out on the weekend. It’s honestly really fun when everyone’s in town because that’s when we can all get together. But yeah, Rachael is fantastic! And it sounds like that movie was a hit.

I thought it was. And the little boy in it, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, I got to interview him. He’s only four years old, and I talked with him and his dad. He is the youngest person I’ve ever interviewed.

That is adorable!

And also Mason McKenzie, who was on last season’s When Calls the Heart, he was in the movie too. So it’s clear that although people might wish to speculate about why actors leave shows, it’s best not to stir up rumors or anything like that. 

Exactly. And one of the things with actors too is that sometimes you don’t want to be contracted to do a role as an actor because if you’re reading for other pilots and you have an interest in something else or a producer is talking to you about a movie or a show that’s been pitched and they’re thinking it’s gonna go, you don’t want to lock yourself into a schedule. And no one ever talks about that. In fact, usually you’re not allowed to. So you just sit there, and people have all these theories, and you can’t really say anything because of non-disclosure. Then your managers might be strategizing, “If you don’t do this season, we can do this and this, and that opens this up.” We always have to be cautious of schedules too. So there’s a million reasons. and you can’t even chalk it up to one reason. It’s not as simple as being, “I didn’t like it!”

I fully understand where you’re coming from, and once in awhile, I jump in on those conversations so that I can hopefully steer people the right way and away from these rumor mills and wrong roads. It’s okay to be disappointed, but let’s not speculate.

And at the end of the day, the show will go on and continue. Just like in real life when your best friend moves away, and you’re like, “Okay, that’s not great, but I’m gonna deal with it.”

So this season of When Calls the Heart, we will see your character in the infirmary, I am assuming.

That is correct.

With Paul Greene

So you get to work with the town doctor.

Yeah, that’s one of the fun things this season. And I’m sure people can put it together that Dr. Carson and Faith share a lot of scenes together because I’ve posted it on Instagram. You get to see our working relationship grow, and you’ll get to see us interact with patients. I really loved shooting in the infirmary. It’s fun and such a wonderful set-up. And the cool thing is the town comes to you because everyone has medical problems at some point. Certain episodes, someone will come in, and you’ll really get to know that actor for that episode. Paul {Greene} and I have created a shorthand between us because nurses and doctors will ideally be able to read each other’s minds and look at each other in such a way that says, “Okay, this needs to be done and that needs to be done.” We had a lot of fun growing that part of our relationship after all that happened last season. So there’s a lot to look forward to with the two of us, I’d say.

I know he posted a lot of pictures of the two of you. I remember his posting when you were both singing on set.

{laughs} Oh yeah!

And those were always fun. And I know he posted a lot with the kids. Did you get to have a lot more interactions with the kids this season too?

Yes, I did get to interact with a lot of them, kind of more on an individual basis I’d say. It’s so neat to see all these kids growing up. I look at some of them and go, “Oh my gosh, next year you’re gonna be taller than me!”

Isn’t that the truth? Once Jaiven {Natt} started posting pictures as you guys started to film, I was like, “Wait a minute! This kid is taller than everybody!” 

In between seasons, you don’t really feel like much time passes, but you look at the kids and you’re like, “Yep, we haven’t been here for a while!”

And then you’ve got little Ava {Grace Cooper}! That girl is going to be an absolute knockout! 

Oh, she is!

She’s growing into this beautiful young woman, and I’m thinking that her parents are going to have a hard time keeping the boys away in a few years.

She is such a good actor. I have some scenes with Ava this year, and she snaps right into it. She has those puppy-dog eyes. She’s got some great moments this season.

But it’s got to be fun for you because you’ve been on the show since season two. It’s got to be great seeing these kids grow up.

It really is a neat show in that respect. It’s wonderful to see the changes that happen, and ultimately, it’s always positive. You really feel that you’re in a town, and once you get to season five, everyone knows each other quite well. Sometimes on a show with this large of a cast, you kind of know each other, but it seems like you should know each other better based on what you see on television. But on this show, we truly do all hang out, and I always say that some of my favorite scenes are group scenes. I just love when the town’s together ’cause I love hanging out with everybody.

And now you have Charlotte {Hegele} coming back as Julie Thatcher.

Yeah, you know, I had not met Charlotte until the Hearties Family Reunion. That’s when I met her for the first time.

That’s true! You probably wouldn’t have had any scenes with her during season two. 

We were shooting around the same time in season two, but we were never shooting on the same days, or if we were, we bypassed each other entirely. It’s so funny to meet people…this has happened to me with Marcus Rosner and so many others. You’re like, “I know you and you know me, but we’ve never met. We know a lot about each other. We’re friends, but this is our first time to work together!” I will say that Charlotte is fabulous and lots of fun. We became fast friends. She has some really exciting stuff this season.

With Erica Carroll and Ali Liebert and

I heard that Ali Liebert is also in season five.

Yes, another Hallmark familiar face. Ali is one of those people who’s originally from Vancouver, but she lives in LA now. I’ve known her for years. She was the lead on Bomb Girls, and she’s a very established Canadian actor. But I had never worked with her or officially met her. I think we had seen each other at events and stuff and introduced ourselves, but it was really fun having scenes with Ali.

Another actress who hasn’t said a lot about her part, but I do know she’s a part of season five, is Kate Isaac. 

Yes, Kate was later on in the season. She did an episode or two.

I know of her because I’ve interviewed her previously, and she’s married to Aaron Craven which I didn’t realize at first.  I had interviewed both individually, and then I put it together that they were married. But I would say they complement each other very well. Kate said it was a great cast and crew to work with and that everyone was so kind. I plan to interview her later in the season. 

It’s always nice to have some new but familiar faces each season, and there are some Hallmark favorites in season five. I think Hearties will have fun picking them out of the cast. Hallmark likes to use people who have been on the network before. I think it’s a fun game to see a face and think, “Ooh, I remember this person from such-and-such.” And at the end of the day, we all kind of connect in this weird web. In fact, I just finished working on a Hallmark project, and of course, Erin wanted to know who was directing, etc. And Erin recognized everyone I was working with, which is so cool because Hallmark picks from this group of people who is interwoven somehow.

Just recently, I interviewed Kristin Booth and her husband Tim Ware about their recent movie Winter’s Dream. He wrote it, and Kristin was the executive producer. And Tim hopes they will get to do more. 

That’s great! I think it’s wonderful that Hallmark recognizes that there’s value in that. Even Ali, after being on When Calls the Heart, she produced a project and starred in it. I think it’s neat how Hallmark recognizes that there’s value in using everyone’s full skillset. If you’ve worked with the network, writers and producers will pay attention if you want to pitch something.

I noticed you had just wrapped on something for Hallmark. 

Initially, I couldn’t say much about it because they hadn’t committed to a title. It is supposed to be released this spring, and I think they finally decided to call it Heart’s Desire. We’ll see if that changes as that sometimes does happen.

Well, I’m glad we get to see you in a spring film because we didn’t get to see you in a Christmas movie at all! I was very sad.

I was very sad the day I found out it couldn’t work. Erin Facetimed me immediately, and I said, “I feel awful! This is terrible!” There’s something so sad because it’s like all your friends are hanging out and you weren’t invited. You almost feel that way. But I was busy with A Harvest Wedding, and my shooting schedule was such that I was in every day to shoot.

Speaking of A Harvest Wedding, even though you had a supporting role, it was a pretty significant supporting role. You were in a lot of scenes.

Yeah, and it was fun working with Marcus, and I think the Hearties really found that funny. When we posted that picture of the two of us, we just figured we’d put that out there and see what happens. But then people were like, “Wait, are you together in real life?” And “Wait, is this for When Calls the Heart?” And we had to say, “Oh, no, no, no!” There were a lot of conspiracy theories, and we both had a lot of fun reading them.

You’re still on Supergirl after all this time. I’m so glad they’ve kept you around.

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I know, I’m still popping in and out of that show and still doing the same thing. I just love that character. I’m having so much fun with her. I can’t remember if I talked with you about this, but I am taking part in a documentary project that shoots in LA, and I’m supposed to go down shortly once my schedule permits. But the documentary is based on the real Eve Teschmacher, so it’s Valerie Perrine’s life. She’s older now and quite ill. In fact, I believe she has Parkinson’s Disease. They’re doing a documentary on her life, and they’ve reached out to me. I’m inspired by her version of Teschmacher, and I’m still playing the character on a current TV series. So that’s a cool thing. I’ve never taken part in a documentary before.

And that’s got to really excite you with all of your film knowledge and background in film.

Supergirl

Yeah, it’s really exciting and kinda cool. It’s one of the things I like about the superhero universe is that it transcends generations, and these storylines continue to mean something to people. You get to play a character now, and you know that one day, someone else will pick up where you left off, and they’ll take that character and turn it into something different. It’s kind of an honor to feel like you’re in that universe in some small way.

I have meant to tell you that your outlook on film and TV has really inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone and watch some things I wouldn’t have normally. In fact, when I watch those things that are just a little bit different from my usual genres, I always think about how you, Andrea, would look at things from an artistic standpoint. So I wanted to be sure to tell you that you have had that influence on me. 

Ruth, that is awesome! I’m one of those weird people who will watch pretty much anything because I think there’s value and there’s something to be learned from anything made for television or a movie. I mean, even if it’s bad, that’s a lesson in itself. If it’s bad, if it’s good, if it works, if it doesn’t…there’s always something to be learned. In fact, for me, watching plot is the most difficult thing because I’m so wrapped up in the blocking, in the direction, in the lighting. It’s like I’m thinking about so much because I know there are so many working pieces when you’re working on a film or in TV. But usually, plot is the last thing I’ll think about, and I’ll have to go back and be like, “Oh, right, there’s a story.”

I’m usually busy looking at this person and that person and looking up why I recognize this person and so on. And so often in these Hallmark film, it is seriously like I’ve interviewed at least half of the cast!

That is very true. You have interviewed so much of the Vancouver film community.

Now, Andrea, you haven’t been in a mystery film yet, have you?

No, I have not as of yet. I have read for some of them, and I’ve met many of the producers. I have been offered some roles, but it didn’t work out for various reasons. But I would love to, and I hope something works out this year.

Well, fingers crossed it works out because I know I would love to see you in one of them. 

I really hope it works out, but of course, it is usually a scheduling issue. But I’m certainly ready and willing! I will say that there is nothing more frustrating when you’re working on something and you have a one-day conflict, and you have to pass on the project. It’s happened to me several times, but you have to think that it’s a good problem. It’s better to have too much work than not enough work.

And, of course, you still have your Etsy shop.

Yes, I do. My friend has been helping me to run it since I have been working a lot. It’s done so much better than I was expecting. The way it happened is we made too many chokers, and we didn’t know what to do. We wondered about going to an event and trying to sell them, but then we thought we’d give Etsy a try. And then it worked so well that we had to put up more. It’s more just a fun thing. We’ll get together and make them and watch movies. I know some people want to know about our business plan, but we don’t have one. It’s literally just fun!

Well, I know the Hearties really love them because once you post them, you sell out very quickly. 

I know, it’s so sweet! I never expected anything. The fact that that happens is so nice. I know that one day I talked to my cousin. She’s very artistic and is a model. We’ve had ideas for a clothing line. There are other things I would love to do, but you just need time and energy to do it all. The nice thing about Etsy is I can help out, and then my friend takes over when I can’t. Maybe down the road, I’d love to do something bigger, and now I have kind of an idea how online marketing works a little bit.

I think you’re also involved with Paul’s ALS event as well, correct?

Yes, I am. It’s so sweet and so many people have jumped on board. It’s been so exciting to see all these people taking part in it. Including Bill Abbott, our CEO, and so many celebrities and artists. Even Jordan Blackstone and Janette Stephens. They are putting in so much time! I’ve personally donated a necklace, and I’m happy to do anything else they need. I think all will be revealed on the 18th (today) when everything goes live. In fact, there’s even this twelve-year-old girl named Elise who makes these itty bitty dolls, and you can see it on my Instagram. It’s the cutest thing! She did an itty bitty doll of me. So I know that’s been donated as well.

Well, I’m behind the event one hundred percent. I’ve donated money to the cause, and I’m sharing about the event like crazy. I think that’s one of the best ways to help.

I agree with you. Twitter is great for that, but I am also still learning the ropes with Instagram. I’m still trying to learn when the best time to post is and gathering my statistics. I feel like Hearties are all getting accounts now. And I think it makes sense to use Instagram because all of us post behind-the-scenes content. I know I typically put it on Twitter, but this year, I have saved some funny stuff to post later in the season on Instagram.

You do share great stuff on Instagram. In fact, when you share stuff, I know it’s always going to be positive and a bit different. Even if you post a selfie, you always have an interesting quote or something to go with it. And I really appreciate that. I’m not saying it’s bad if other actors just post a picture and that’s it, but with you, Andrea, I appreciate that you go the extra mile, so to speak. I actually look forward to your posts. 

Oh, Ruth, that’s so sweet! It really has been one of my friends who has been so instrumental in helping me. Before, I paid more attention to Twitter, and I figured I’d post the odd thing on Instagram when I think about it. I had no consistency. My friend is an artist, and she told me to think about consistency and ask questions to engage and use the platform. There’s so much potential, and she encouraged me to try.

One more thing we have to address because the fans keep asking. Of course, we all want Faith to have a love interest. What can you tell us about this season in regards to that for Faith? I know you can’t officially tell us whether Faith finds love this season, but what can you tell us?

Well, I am open to a love interest for Faith. I know the Hearties want her to find someone to love. Of course, Faith lost Niall’s character, which was pretty tough. It’s always difficult, and you need to leave some breathing room obviously. You can’t forget about Faith’s past loves, and you also can’t ignore the fact that she has no one right now. I would say that she contends with the loss of love in her own way, but you will get to see some light or some sparks this season. Faith does have feelings, and you’ll get to see what happens.

Honestly, that all sounds good. I seriously wasn’t thinking they would actually marry Faith off this season or even give her a serious love interest. The way I see it is you don’t automatically recover from losing someone that you were starting to fall for. Faith and Shane kissed after all. And if I understand Faith correctly, that kiss meant something to her. She doesn’t strike me as one who would kiss just anyone. And you don’t want her to jump right into another relationship because it might be for the wrong reasons.

I think you’re exactly right about Faith. I think Shane serves an interesting purpose in a sense. She had left her fiance, and nobody back then would have left a life of security. She did that for the sake of a career and to help people, and that’s a big step. I think what Faith does when she’s stressed or when something is happening, she launches herself into her work ’cause that’s what she’s passionate about. She’s most comfortable working. I think Shane was a good reminder that she can think about herself and what she wants. And that’s one of my favorite things about Faith. When she slows down, she realizes she never learned to cook because she worked her whole life to be a nurse. She doesn’t think about dating or finding anyone because she is so wrapped up in what she does for a living. I can relate to that. In fact, I think a lot of people can relate to that. So with Shane, she realizes she has never had luck with men, but he slows her down a bit. It was during that moment that she realized it was okay to think about herself and to put herself first for once. That’s one of the reasons I love that episode because she has that moment outside where she stops and thinks about that. So the way I see her now is that she is aware that is okay to want to find somebody.

With Ben Rosenbaum

Well, I think it’s going to have to be someone who will let her be who she is. And I’m sure she’s not going to want to completely give up her career once she gets married. 

Exactly. I think the explanation with the old fiance was that he was telling her that she had to be a wife and be at home, cooking dinner, and that’s not her at all. She would have to find someone who can understand the lifestyle and what her career entails.

In some ways, it’s reminiscent of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. 

It is! That’s so true. I used to love watching that show.

With Paul Greene

Me too! I realize that Faith is not a doctor, but she is a nurse and is in the medical profession. And it’s a similar time period, I think. I guess Dr. Quinn was earlier, but it’s still on the frontier and all that. So for Faith to find love with someone who will let her continue her career after she gets married, that’s going to take a very special man. 

Absolutely!

I know I wouldn’t want Faith to jump into a relationship with someone who won’t do this for her. We need to remember that though we want her to be happy, it needs to be with the right kind of man. She’s not going to be happy just being a wife and a mother.

How very true. Faith will still want to work after she gets married, and that was not the normal thing back then. I think it’s very important to remember that Faith always throws herself into her work to deal with stress and anything else. And now there’s a doctor that she works with. And there are these new relationships to explore and friendships and working dynamics. It was so much fun to work in that realm.

Well, I for one, am very excited to see season five. I’m sure it will be the best so far.

And it will also be the biggest. After all, it’s been on Netflix internationally and now on the Super Channel at the same time as it is on Hallmark as well as people moving to Instagram…I think it will be the biggest season.

I love that the Canadian Hearties and the U.S. Hearties can join forces on Sunday nights now. 

I am so glad too! It’s so frustrating shooting all this great content up here, and yet because Canada doesn’t have Hallmark, we don’t get to see it unless another network picks it up. I really don’t know what the solution is. There really is a demand for Hallmark up here, and I really hope that they figure it out because it would definitely meet a need. People want the content. I mean even people you would never think about liking romantic comedies–lawyers, high-powered people, and people from all walks of life want to watch those Hallmark Christmas movies and more. These movies and shows make us feel so good, and it seems like the demand continues to increase for them.

I am in full agreement. I have found out that it is even becoming an accepted thing among younger people. It used to be that it was just the “old people” watching Hallmark.

Oh my goodness, you’re right! There are teenagers who sit down with their moms and dads and watch these movies and shows together. It is so interesting how Hallmark is filling this void that was obviously needed for so long.

Well, the network does an exceptional job. I really have no complaints with Hallmark. I know people complain that their movies are cheesy, but there is so much content out there. If you don’t like it, turn the channel. There’s no reason to sit around and complain. 

You are so right. If you don’t like one show or movie on the network, there’s plenty more to choose from on other networks. Or turn it to another one of their channels for an hour or two.

Exactly. I would say that if there’s one show you don’t like on the network, I would say that’s pretty good. 

That is pretty good. I can say with any other network…I do like things on HBO, but I don’t like everything on HBO. I like Westworld, but I don’t watch Game of Thrones. Do I have to like everything on a network? No, I do not.

I think Hallmark is actually being pretty smart because they are trying to diversify what they offer.

That’s how you grow, and we should all want the network to grow.

And if you don’t like it, don’t watch it, and I think that is the best way you can show you don’t approve of a show. There is no reason to spout off all this negativity that I sometimes see.

Yes, and work has been so busy, so it is something I want to focus on when I have more time. I have some ideas and some projects that interest me and there’s some ideas that I want to explore.

Yes, and we’ll see if that name stays the same. It’s a very sweet movie with cupcakes playing a vital role in the story. It also stars Tammy Gillis, Julie Gonzalo, Jordan Burtchett, and I guess it’s supposed to be premiering on March 17th. Of course, that is subject to change. We’ll see what happens.

Ruth, it was a pleasure. We’ll have to do this more often. It didn’t even seem like an interview. It was just two friends catching up. Thank you and all the Hearties for all your support! We’re excited to share season five with you.

I seriously am overwhelmed by the acumen of Andrea’s interview and everything we discussed in transcendent detail! Andrea is one of the most captivating people I have ever chatted with, and I do not say that carelessly. I know I often remark that the current interview I post is my favorite, but this one unquestionably ranks in the top five! While the vast majority of people with whom I connect on a regular basis are sincere and straightforward, Andrea brings these qualities to such a profound level! And she does it in her own indomitable style. The extent of knowledge this woman possesses concerning the arts and more is absolutely staggering! In my humble opinion, if Andrea had a desire to be an A-list actress in Hollywood, there is no doubt she could be through her industrious drive and work ethic. However, Andrea is not about being a celebrity; she is about being an artist. Her creativity seriously knows no bounds, and I am especially honored to call Andrea one of my best friends in the business!

What can I say? Please tune in today (February 18th) to the Hallmark Channel to watch the season five premiere of one of the best shows ever on television–When Calls the Heart. She has inspired many to consider a career in the medical profession (or at least to support those who do), and this woman’s infectious smile and joie de vivre is enough to enliven the hearts of anyone who may be experiencing a day of darkness. It’s difficult to remain dejected when under the spell of Andrea Brooks!
