If you haven’t guessed, for me, there is nothing better than meeting “new” actors and actresses–by that, I mean new to me. Over my time of being a devoted Hallmark viewer, I have had the opportunity to be introduced to such lovely people, and Meghan Heffern is certainly no exception to that. I happened to notice her on the second season of Good Witch because even though Alexis is in a bit of a muddle, the way in which Cassie handled the situation was ingenious (and after all, Alexis did acquiesce to Cassie’s solution). Recently, Meghan was gracious enough to answer some questions to give her fans a brief but fascinating overview of her life as an actress.
What inspired you to become an actress?
Because I moved around a lot when I was a kid, I found myself starting high school in a brand new, tiny town. I didn’t know anyone, so I developed a slight obsession with the band Hanson. I decided I needed to meet them, and the only way I could make that happen was to be a famous actress. I have since met Hanson, and fell in deeper love with acting. Mmmmbop.
While Hallmark viewers only really know you from Good Witch, what are some other projects of yours that you might recommend to Hallmark viewers?
I was in a wonderful little Christmas movie called Merry Ex-Mas. I also had the chance to work on the film What If ( The F Word in Canada), which is a lovely, quirky Rom-Com.
Speaking of Merry Ex-Mas, (a film I adored), what was it like working on that film?
I LOVED Merry Ex-Mas! It was great. I’ve always wanted to be in a Christmas movie. Hopefully more Christmas movies to come.
Let’s talk Good Witch. Please describe your character in the show for us and tell us why you enjoy playing her.
I absolutely loved playing Alexis. It’s always a blast playing people who are AWFUL, (Alexis has a good heart though, no?). It was a fun, devious arch to play.
What was it like working with your incredible co-stars? Any idea whether your character will be back next season?
It was great. Catherine {Bell} is such a wonderful actress. She really embodies Cassie. This is actually the third time Sarah Power and I have worked together. She’s awesome. You just never know–perhaps Alexis will be back to stir up more trouble.
Any other upcoming works you can mention?
I just completed a movie called SERIALIZED, which was so much fun to shoot. I also got to play a little bit on the CBS show American Gothic.
As I see you’ve done some writing, is that something you plan to pursue more in the future?
I would love to. There’s definitely projects in the works.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?
I love hanging out with my dog Lola. I love going out for Tea. I love nachos.
As far as I’m concerned, Meghan is a great addition to the Hallmark family, and I personally would love to see them bring her back in other roles as well as season three of Good Witch. There is no doubt that she is a team player. Her beauty and innocent look truly make her the an ideal cast choice for the “other woman” or maybe even as the least likely murderer? (Just an idea, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.) There is no doubt that no matter how she arrived at her current position in this business, she has made the decision to cast everything within her into pursuing this dream of hers. Furthermore, she impressed me even more when I asked her to contribute to an interview of one of Hallmark’s top leading men (yes, she did work with Cameron Mathison several years ago–isn’t that girl lucky?). This interviewer DOES NOT forget things like that. No doubt, as Meghan continues to invest her time, abilities, and heart in this business while keeping her level-headed sense and kind ways about her, I am pretty confident we will continue to hear and see great things from this girl in the future. For now, be sure to follow her at the various links below so that you can be there the moment she skyrockets to the top!
