Guest Post By JoAnne Kenrick
Here I stand as what I would consider to be a successful published author of romance, yet each day I ask myself, “Where do I go next?”
I spend my days penning sizzling stories of passion and romance—ghosts and vampires, selkies, or just straight up contemporary romance. Either way, I get to swoon all I want, no 80s Brat Pact required. Best of all, my work makes others swoon. That, to me, is success. The first draft is for me. The several other versions after that are to make sure my created adventure is as enjoyable as it can be for others. If my words make readers escape reality and enjoy said journey, then I did what I set out to do when I revise and edit a story. That is a successful author in my mind.
Each writer will have their own definition of success, and each writer will have endured a different journey to publication. But one thing we all have in common is our development, and struggle to be taken seriously, is never ending. I truly believe one is never a total master at their craft, and writer style is forever adapting and growing. We learn along the way, from fellow authors and from sometimes the most unlikely of sources. Who knows where the next writerly lesson lies, but I’m here with my pen (well, keyboard) poised and I’m eager to grow.
Always.
And on that note, I hope my latest release, BEFORE THE RAIN, which is a stand-a-lone set in rural North Wales, helps serve as a wonderful escape across the pond. A sassy newly unemployed and single Southerner from Atlanta heads to Wales for a man-free break to find her own inspiration to write words…instead, she falls for the rustic charm of the land and her very gruff and Welsh land lord. Trouble, of course, ensues.
Three fiancés in three years makes Zoe Chantilly’s relationship column for the Georgia Times her only semblance of commitment…that is until her dating advice takes a dive down the Suwannee and she’s fired.
Unemployed and single, she leaves the sweltering heat of the south and heads to the UKfor a man-free break from life. The plan? Get with nature, write a novel, and be alone. Be very much alone. But nature has other plans for Zoe.
Navigating the backcountry roads of Wales seems just as complicated as her love life. A near-collision hones her desires in on Dylan Mostyn, a Leo seething with a raw prowess and macho magnetism the Aquarius in her can’t resist.
This Welshman is as arrogant as he is gorgeous. He’s also her landlord. The undeniable and thunderous attraction between them pinnacles during a karaoke duet at the village fete, but what starts as a no-strings fling quickly spirals toward dangerous ground.
