Stewie coverStewie Boomstein Starts School is aimed to help parents and children smooth the transition into school. The 48-page book has a fun picture book for kids as well as a parent tips section in the back of the book. The parent tips section includes concrete tips for parents from interviews with two renowned child and education specialists.
The Boomsteins series of books is singular in the world of publishing because in addition to telling a charming tale that children will enjoy, a section called Parent Tips in the back of each storybook will include advice directly aimed at parents. The tips will be offered by experts in the field and presented in an interview format. Because each book will address one particular challenge that kids and families face—starting a new school, transitioning out of a crib, making friends—each Parent Tips section will address that challenge head-on.
The Stewie Boomstein series is a one-stop-shop for parents dealing with particular issues that face all families.
Their next books in the series will be Stewie Boomstein Gets a Big Boy Bed (fall 2014) and Stewie Boomstein Makes a Friend (winter 2015)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My daughter is a little old for this book, but I am always grateful for the opportunity to review children’s books. And I know some parents who will be putting their kids in school for the first time this fall.

In the past, I have read several children’s books about school, and I honestly expected that this one would be similar. I was shocked when I discovered that Stewie had a bad first day of school! All too often, we expect our kids to love school from the beginning, but this book takes a different view. I think that means that parents can discuss things a little more realistically with their kids. Excellent!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
