Sixteen year old Emma Cartwright runs away from her family’s South Carolina rice plantation after a slave is beaten to death. Determined to join the fight against slavery, Emma enlists in the Union Army disguised as a young man. Nothing could prepare her for the sacrifices needed—and for falling in love for the first time.

Well, the most interesting thing about the book for me it’s the slavery 😀

Thanks Everyone! Yes, I really LOVED the idea of a girl infiltrating and serving the Union Army as a young man. How crazy-brave is that? And I agree that the cover turned out great! Some people say the girl reminds them of Jennifer Lawrence. Pretty cool! 🙂

I kinda love the whole idea behind the book. To go from plantation life (which was probably pretty good) to pretending to be a boy in the army. Its a fresh spin on the scenario.
