Book #1 The Caspian Wine Series

Suspense/Thriller
Date Published: October 2012

She was kidnapped not once but twice and now someone wants her dead because of it…

Her life was a lie!

Bailey knew her upbringing wasn’t normal but she’s worked hard to stabilize her life. At 29, she finally has a good business, a stable home; her life is miles from that of her childhood. Then suddenly her mother dies, leaving a gaping hole and a discovery that they may not even be related. If Guy, the private investigator is to be believed, her life is a lie. Using the skills she learned on the streets, Bailey travels back through a sketchy and dangerous past, to find answers. Dodging bullets, staying ahead of those who want her dead and convincing Guy she can do it alone, are making it difficult to discover not only the secrets of her mother’s past but that of a family claiming she is theirs.

Everyone seems to have a story… but who’s telling the truth? And who wants her dead? Is Guy part of the solution? Or part of the problem? To discover the facts, she’ll have to untangle a web of deceit, lies, and secrets, dating back over thirty years.

But can she do it in time…

Does Reading Change You?
By Maggie Thom
Does reading change you? Having been a reader all my life, it probably isn’t a fair question for me to answer but I have to say yes. Yes, reading does change you or at least it did me. It has to, doesn’t it? I mean you immerse yourself in so many different lives, so many different stories, taken on so many adventures, who wouldn’t be changed?
Just think about all the reasons why you read:
– to escape
– to learn
– to live vicariously
– to laugh
– to love
– to know someone has a worse life than you
– to be suspended in time for a while
– to go on an adventure
– to be whisked away to another place
– to be entertained
– to cry
– to just be
– to wonder
– to be tested
– to find answers
– to find questions
– to prove something
– to disprove something
– to test your memory
– to practice your deductive skills
– to be able to live in someone else’s world
– to understand life
– to explore possibilities

Okay, do we really read for all of these reasons? I don’t think that always consciously we do but I’d say yes, for at least one or two or more of these, at a time. And I’m sure there are many more reasons to read, I’ve just named some of them. Whatever your reasons for reading there is no way you can read something either true or fiction and not have it affect you… not have it change you.
Sometimes reading is your best friend, your soul mate, your confident, your mirror, your companion, your truth sayer, your kick in the butt, your emotional radar, your release, your escape, your journey, your wake up, your love, your life… whatever reading is to you it is so powerful. It gives us the gift of freedom that nothing else can. It gives us the opportunity to just be and once you are done your book, you will always look at things just a little bit differently.
Do you think reading changes you?
