My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I absolutely adore the fact that the protagonist is deaf–I grow weary of reading about perfect female specimens, and this book demonstrates that even those with some kind of perceived deficiency can thrive in this world. In fact, Ella is such a capable, strong character that I often forgot she was deaf. This book is a typical romance in most senses of the word, and the reader will get mostly what he/she is expecting.
I do have a couple of cautions. The profanity and the bedroom scenes are pretty rampant throughout the book. I also don’t particularly care for the emphasis on the physical relationship between Ella and Alex. I would have preferred witnessing much more than chemistry between them. I grow tired of books that emphasize this aspect of male/female relationships, but that is just a personal preference.
In conclusion, I would have to say that although the book is not my favorite, the premise is authentically unique and engrossing. If you love contemporary romances that are hot and heavy, this book may be for you.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
